Question about EQ tuning/flattening curved signal

Hey! Few questions.

Current setup 2006 e92:
-base system
-Jehnert flatline kit 3-way
-match pp82dsp amp
-technic harness

I recently wanted to power up front abit (was running 2-way before).
So i got rid off the passive crossovers and ran new pair of wires from oem rear speakers to front.
Now that i got more power to 4" mids & tweeters i noticed that i get these
"loud peaks" at certain frequencies, is this due to fact that i have still the base systems modified EQ curve?

So do i need to get some sort of measurement mic and play some music and
see what frequencies i need to tone down with pp82dsp's EQ fine or
how should i proceed to get rid off these peaks that are nasty to ears?

Also here are my current crossover points for 3-way jehnerts incase they look wierd, let me know.
-underseats 50hz-250hz
-4" mids 250hz-3khz
-tweeters 3khz-20khz

Thanks beforehand!

Don't understand why you would run wires from the rear speakers is this a missprint. That amp has 8 channels which is enough to run the fronts active
and have the underseats and the rears on seperate channels.

First part of 14 part series on how to tune a dsp and its helix
specific.

I left 2 channels free as i might add a sub after i get front to play decent.
I was looking some of those videos earlier but might need to check whole series with time.

measurement mic

Can measuring be done with REW + home theater measurement microphone?
I could get a Sony ECM-AC3 microphone, would this work?

Or do i need to buy specific microphone for this task like Dayton UMM-6 or
minidsp UMIK-1?

Dont know how the Sony Mic would work but I use a UMIK-1 with REW and my Helix, works fantastic. The calibration file is easily accessible. All works nice.

Those crossover settings are probably good, maybe a little lower on the underseat-mid crossover, I seem to remember 170hz-24db/octave being the sweet spot in my old system but your results certainly may vary.

I actually ended up ordering UMIK-1 aswell, should arrive at next week

Did you have jehnert's aswell or some other speakers?
I think i read that most have jehnert underseats low passed at 200-250hz area.

I might test the subwoofer i have laying around from old car,
should i raise 8" underseats HPF to around 80hz-12db/octave and
let sub handle lower frequencies alone.

Thanks!

So UMIK-1 arrived at monday and i was able to download REW and
try out some measurements for testing/learning purposes following
that youtube quide ctuna kindly provided.

Only thing that i wasn't really able to pick up from those videos was the thing
that my RTA measurement's gave me crazy rollercoaster in peaks/dips
compared to graphs that shows at those videos. I guess this is normal since
i have factory boosted EQ curve from HU that i'm trying to flatten?

As example i was playing pink noise from left 4" mid and measured with volume
i would listen music to and graph shows steady climb from down to
its high pass (250hz) where the graphs peaks at highest (100db) then it
dips around 20db and peaks again almost to 100db, does this more or less
on whole speakers frequency range.

That leads me to probably stupid question but, at what level i should try to flatten the curve at since i understood that i want to lower the peaks but
should not really boost the dips? Do i flatten the curve to lowest dip at each drivers
frequency range if i should not use EQ for boosting any dips?
Confused me because on those video series he has only few peaks and no dips so thats
more simple to just lower peaks to flatten out the curve.

I hope this makes some sense for you guys and i'm just overthinking it / missed something.

Thanks again!

edit: Also which microphone calibration file is correct for car audio measurements?
- For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the speakers
- For multichannel system (E.g. 5.1/7.1) or a surround application where multiple speakers are spreadout around the room, use the 90deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the ceiling.
