Buying a used Valentine One?
I have an expensive trip coming up so the $400 price tag is out of range at the moment.
Im mostly interested in the false alarm features ("junk radar") and arrows, but ive heard older Valentines ether can't omit junk radar, or need to be updated. Can someone inform me as to what build dates I would be looking for? or what dates can be updated? Are there extra costs or equipment involved in updating? Is there anything else i should be looking for when purchasing used? I frequently see them listed for around $250. Thanks

for the record. ive found this so far.
You can enter the serial number here> https://store.valentine1.com/Upgrades/GoUpgrades.asp This will tell you if it has Junk K Fighter. if it does not. you will have to send it in and pay $289 for the upgrade.

There have been a lot of updates, but I really wouldn't hesitate to buy an older unit if you get a good price. Mine is from 2004 or so and it gets some junk alerts, but I'm OK with that... as long as it still gets the real alerts. It's not an issue at all in my opinion

The V1 looks out dated compared to the R3. Im interested in what Valentine is working on.

I've had V1's for nearly 15 years. My 3rd (& Latest) unit is from 2009, it's got to the point where I've disabled K and X band completely. I only show KA and laser now because of so many false alerts. Mine is just on the cusp of being able to utilize the bluetooth kit and app. With the bluetooth kit and app you can use your phone to disable false alerts and stuff.
If you can trust your police only use KA and Laser then the radar is nearly just as good as new ones. But if you feel like you will be missing out disabling K band, then I recommend a unit 2010 or earlier. On the V1 site there is a listing of serial numbers for when the Bluetooth kit will have full functionality, mine just missed the cusp. I'll likely put my old V1 in one of my other cars and get a new Escort MAX 360 with arrows. I've always been a fan of V1 but they just aren't keeping up with the times enough and I'm not a fan of having to use my phone even if it was possible. |

Normally I'd agree but I'm not paying full retail and coming from a long time of arrows with the V1, it's worth it to me.
What do you know about V1's new radar that you can share? I haven't heard anything but haven't dove much into it either. |

Doesn't ship till Nov 28 http://www.bestradardetectors.net/Uniden-R3.html Backordered https://www.amazon.com/Uniden-R3-Ext.../dp/B0743H6CSN Backordered. I think my only option is to wait or pay $100 over retail. Trip isnt until December so I have a little room.
