Best Sydney Drives

Hi All,

As I'm sure we are all frustrated by the shocking Sydney traffic, overkill of speed cameras and speed trap sections, I am looking for suggestions on the best drives in and around the Sydney Area to really get out and open up. Cant help but feel like my daily commute on the M4 just doesn't get the most of the car (apologies if the sarcasm gets lost here).

So, can anyone throw in some suggestions for the best roads and routes around? I have spent some time down in the National Park in and around Heathcote and Darkes forest, and I know that the Bells Line of Roads and Wiseman Ferry route are good runs. But in the eventuality I want to just drop out for an hour or two (in based near the CBD) where is best?

Cheers

Garage List
Drive to Wollongong, Mt Keira Road or Sea Cliff Bridge, down to Kiama via Jamberoo (awesome roads through hills with few cars)

It's hard to find something that's within easy reach of the CBD area and to limit it to 1-2 hours. Royal National Park is the easiest to access and drive through as you've already mentioned. Sea Cliff is a favourite of mine, down to Wollongong Lighthouse.

With a little more time there's Old Pac Hwy especially from Berowra all the way up through Peats Ridge to Gosford, return through Wiseman's Ferry but then you're talking a solid 3-4 hours or more.

Love to hear some other ideas too.
