Side mirror paint repair requires clearcoat?

Hey guys, need a little information if anyone can provide it. I've scratched a side mirror on a concrete post while parking. I can see some white paint transfer and it seems the scratch is pretty deep from touching the area. The scratch itself isn't more than 2" long and at best 1/4" wide. My car color is Montego Blue.

I think it's best to just attempt a paint repair via wetsanding and touchup paint. Should I also be including a clearcoat on top?

Updated: Attached 3 pics of the scratch. The main scratch is about an inch long. On second looks, it isnt as deep as my mind imagined.

Good idea, I've updated the first post with some images. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing it?
