2006 330i Gauge Cluster Symbols?
So I have a 2006 330i and I'm getting annoyed that the warning symbols won't go off the small screen inside the gauge cluster. I don't know how to get them permanently removed. I know that you can press BC but then after about 3 seconds they all just cycle through again and constantly cycle through. It's weird because on my 07 328i and my girlfriends 06 325i they don't constantly cycle through so I'd like to get it where they go away after I start the car. Any ideas?

How about putting up some pictures.
It could be service reminders or actual fault codes your not really giving enough info. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...0&d=1267318728 Last edited by ctuna; 11-05-2017 at 08:29 PM.. |

That's not the point... the codes are for sensors like seatbelt and airbag that commonly fail in 06 E90s. My point is that on one 06 e90, the alerts will come up right as the car start and you can still find them in the check control menu, but in my car they literally just keep cycling constantly so I can't ever see the clock and temperature. If it helps I'll post a video off what happens.

There's the video. I clear them with the stalk and they will come back. Yes I know I have a lot of error codes but they're ALL sensor related (besides the adaptive headlamp one). I don't understand why they won't leave my display but will cycle through once and then stay in the background on other cars of the similar model. |

Because computer finds them important and it keeps reminding you.
Same thing happens when you get low gas in the tank. There is a first warning when it is somewhat low, don't remember the exact amount. You can clear it and won't come up again. But then when its to 1/8th of tank or so low, again don't remember exact amount, it will give a warning again. Even if you clear it, it will keep showing it in a few seconds later. That is how it works. |

It could be that the tire warning for computer is a priority one and keeps reminding you. As it reminds you every few seconds, because there are other warning like seatbelt and what not, they are also shown.
And/or the other car maybe a different airbag code and so different behavior You just need to get them fixed. |

Airbag could be the passenger seat sensor which is a common
problem and may be under recall . The tire sensor problem could be solved by inflating your tires to the proper pressure level an running the calibration procedure mentioned in the Manual . The 06 model e90's use a rotational tire sensing scheme that does not use senors in the tires. Other one looks like adpative light cornering problem. It you have front lights that track with the steering are they working. See failure indicators listed in the pdf or your car manual. Last edited by ctuna; 11-06-2017 at 12:25 AM.. |

I see the seatbelt and the airbag sign is on the video. If the passenger seat belt light is not on that is on the roof/headliner area, and if you get the seatbelt sign and airbag sign even if the seatbelt is in use, one big possibility it is because the little electrical wire connector that goes into the BST (Battery Safety Terminal) on the positive battery post is not making good connection. If battery had been replaced and then the seat belt and airbag light came on, it is most probably it. Search for it you will find instances and fixes to it. 06 E90's use different connector there, and from my own experience if you just remove it once, it doesn't connect back good. Mine for a few years now secured with electrical tape tying it to the BST keeping it good in its place and not giving me those lights and warnings and codes. If you have or get INPA with USB cable, or some OBD scanner that can read BMW codes, it would have told you exactly if it is that or something else. Sometimes seat belt tensioner connections are not good also cause those lights. |

Alright here I'll break down a little on why none of these errors make sense to me 1. The tire pressure warning makes no sense as all of my tires are properly inflated; it came on this time last year and hasn't gone away since no matter how dead accurate the PSI is (hence why I figured it was a sensor) although I can understand that one being on there constantly even though I don't know why I have the code for it. 2. The airbag one is on here, not sure if it's in the vid but it is one of the constants. My problem here is that I know the code and it doesn't stay contasnt on my girlfriend's car. The seatbelt one does throw a constant looping symbol 3. The adaptive headlight one also shouldn't be on there as I've had this problem before (needs a new adaptive controller) and on other cars, it doesn't stay up here the whole time, just once and then goes away. I hope this sort of clears up some of my points |

above posters are correct that 2006 E90 actually uses the ABS to detect if you have a tire with low air pressure. have you actually checked each tire with a gauge, or are you just assuming they have sufficient pressure based on appearance? not trying to be pretentious but definitely check with a gauge

Yeah I know they'll go away if I fix the problem. My point is that a car with the SAME error doesn't have the warnings showing the entire drive. They show at the start of the car and then after a few seconds they go away and you can just view them in check control.

The reset requires pressing and holding on the stalk until it shows it is resetting. And just after you do it you should take off and drive the car for some time. It has been a while last I did this but I think you should see something like watch/ hourglass when it starts reset. It is easy to miss that you have to press and hold, not very intuitive user interface.

Have you tried the owner's manual? Maybe there's a part, like in my manual, that says the following: Some Check Control messages are displayed until the malfunctions have been rectified. They cannot be hidden. If several malfunctions occur at the same time, they are displayed in succession. Indeed, it's difficult to know where to start with some of these threads lately. Product of the chassis being old enough to where used and abused example are affordable to the mullet-wearers and high school kids, perhaps?
