Backup camera for 335xi possible? (non idrive)
I recently bought a 2008 335xi sedan which has PDC sensors, but they don't appear to work.
Which got me thinking how my 2010 Acura MDX has a backup camera where the video appears in the rearview mirror (when in Reverse). I am wondering if there is a OEM or aftermarket option to accomplish this same goal on my 2008 335xi. Thoughts / Recommendations? Thanks in advance! (new to the forum) |

Use manual human mode by putting your right arm over the passenger side headrest, turning your head to the right, and looking through the rear window just as they taught in Driver’s Ed. It's non-OEM and costs you absolutely nothing.

If you want the OEM look, you can get this thing.
https://www.eonon.com/Android-Car-GP...Bluetooth.html Its basically an android tablet that sticks in your dash. You do have to relocate the climate controls and heated seat buttons, (if you have them) but it looks as close to OEM as you can get. Colors for the buttons can even be the exact orange BMW uses. The rearview mirror this is possible too, but you have to replace the mirror currently in the car with an aftermarket one with that screen in it, and I'm pretty sure the auto headlight sensor is built into the mount for it (you can see it if you look at it from the outside). You also loose auto dimming, the compass, etc. There's another way to get around with the mirror, you can buy a screen that fits over the rearview mirror that is reflective until the screen comes on, but I don't like the look of that. |

These options both look solid. Thanks vb7200 and StevenY..
Silly question... if I buy either of these can any local auto stereo shop install them or is it not that common of an install? Would a shop recommend a backup camera to use with these options or does anyone here know what backup camera would work best with an aftermarket setup? OEM backup camera work with these setups? Thoughts much appreciated. TY |

the easiest would be buying a wireless back up camera, like the ones they sell at costco if you just need a back up camera. the eonon would be the closest oem like setup for the money.
You can also looked into getting one of those mirror duel dash cams. The rear camera acts as a reverse camera and a rear dash cam. The quality of the dash cam isnt great but would be pretty good as a reverse camera....there usually $80-100 on ebay or amazon. |

Another option is the BMW accessory Garmin nuvi mount hooked to a modern Garmin that supports a wireless backup camera.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...8&postcount=22 You would only use the mount from the below kit. The mount has a standard Garmin ball. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/65900445990/ |

I believe the Eonon is already set up for the camera, after that it’s just routing the wire for it and mounting it somewhere. If they do any kind of stereo installs this should be cake for them. If you have trouble finding someone to do it, if you’re somewhat local to CNY, I can hook you up. |
