335 IS Winter Rim/Tire Setup

Hi all,

I'm looking for a set of 18s for winter drivng and was wondering what is the best size/offset setup recommended?

I'm currently looking to pick up a set of 4 today - square setup, 225/45/18, on aftermarket rims (not sure of the brand). Will this cause problems and rubbing? I've searched and read a few threads already, I'm seeing some mixed answers on this, hence the thread.

Thanks!
Dan

Unless you have some crazy offset you should be fine. I run 235 45 18 on the oem msport rims and it fits great.

I would suggest you run 225/40/18 to keep the rolling diameter the same and not mess with the speedometer.

Thanks all!

The deal fell through. I did find another which is 235/40/18, but I'm checking the offset on them, they were on an M3. They might not fit also, but if the offset is good, I most likely will get them. If not, I'm buying new, getting tired of chasing down used sets!

If I buy new, do you guys still recommend a square setup 225/40/18 or can I get away with 255s in the back?

For driving in Toronto in the winter, you should at least consider going to 17" rims, for potholes, and 225 all around, especially if you drive in any snow. Experienced vendors like Simply can tell you which 17s will clear your brakes and the correct offset.

Potholes will easily bend or crack many 18" aftermarket wheels. Ask me how I know. 255 rears can hydroplane on snow and slush (sooner than 225 would), and would be more expensive to add insult to injury.
