Hi,
Reading between the lines, it sounds like you or someone close to you has had a car stolen in the past by a thief posing as a buyer. My sympathies if that is the case. I think you'll find a lot of people won't be prepared to buy unless they have a chance to drive the car themselves, but I appreciate that you are trying to weed out the timewasters. If I may make a suggestion, perhaps clarify that point by saying that a deposit needs to be placed before an accompanied test drive and that the buyer needs to have proof of fully comprehensive insurance before driving. I've always insisted on the latter. Otherwise I think you're going to have to offer a refund in the event of an unsatisfactory test drive; as written, your advert seems to infer that no test drive is possible before paying for the car in full. Maybe that's not what you meant. I understand your point about not entertaining 'groups'. I've had that a couple of times in the past and think I will say something similar in any future adverts I create. It's tough trying to keep an eye on more than one person let alone more than two. For what it's worth, people on here with a reasonable post count or length of membership are more than likely genuine, so I hope it sells through e90post. Good luck with the sale, looks like a lovely car.

Nice looking car. Glws. For what it's worth, your add comes across a tad aggressive. I get that you may not be overly bothered about selling but the wording of your add would put me off.
I would suspect there's not many people that'd buy a car without driving it first, especially with this being a private sale.

I am actually on the look for an e90 LCI 30/35d. Saw the headline and thought great. Read the ad and the guy thinks he is selling a 100k porsche. Comes across as aggressive and totally put me off. Think he needs to re assess how he comes across. It's a £12k car your selling ffs which potential drivers will want to drive and see at your home address.

I actually have some sympathy for the seller only because of location. Look around his neighbors cars and that gives you an idea of the locals.
You will get lot of test pilots specially car of that performance. You have to look beyond the asking price of £14k and see its a still a powerful car and potential to do a accident and the test pilot does a runner. Only thing i would add "provide comprehensive insurance before any test drive". Most genuine buyers will be happy to provide that insurance. And most seller would want to view car at registered address. How would the car be any more of theft risk than yesterday unless its no longer insured. I think the seller may had bad experience in the past and just being over protective. But yes i would also not call the seller after reading some bits |

Far too many thefts going on for my liking.
I'm also not letting anyone drive without proof of insurance and the means to pay for it if they crash it. I also don't want a bunch of lads rocking up at my house scoping out what else I own and anything else they might want to steal. Anyways the car is staying.

Its simple regarding test drives. Get a mate of yours or family member, (big bloke if you can lol) to come with you on the test drive. Selling it from ya Folks isn't a problem, just don't mention it, doesn't really matter does it. |

Funny how only this forum had a moan about the ad.
Other forums had positive comments. I've sold a lot of cars in my time and am always straight to the point. I do not suffer fools. That doesn't mean you can jump to conclusions and think I'm some kind of ogre, far from it I'm not. If you care to see the wood from the trees you'd realise that my ad was designed to keep away time wasters. I'm personally sick to death of the forum police. If you aren't interested in an item DONT COMMENT. It's all a moot point anyway, the car is staying.
