NJ People Chime in
I'm looking for areas to buy a townhouse or single family home. I work in the city so I'm guessing north would be best. Can anyone give me names of nice[r] areas that would be a reasonable commute?

I suggest Fort Lee, Edgewater, or any area north of the GWB. I myself am trying to buy a condo in Fort Lee. Probably next year.
I know you're looking for a townhouse or single family home, but check out a building called "The Atrium". Its pure sex. |

I would stay away from woodbridge. lived there 15 years ago. the most dirty, smog filled area, with lots of crime due to the mall.
If you can swing it, try bergen county. much nicer, and most areas have trains into the city.

in NY there is williamsburg, riverdale and astoria in queens. The only problem is that the closing cost are higher in NY but u might also want to check cobble hill, brooklyn heights and fort greene.

North Bergen along Blvd. East. Lots of townhouse type homes. Ft. Lee, Edgewater as well. I work in the city also. Commute is easy whether you drive, take bus or ferry.
Good luck! |

Starting in a few weeks, my commute will be 1.5-2h each way. So I would like it to be under an hour. I would consider moving into the city but my car would get destroyed here, less driving, no garage unless I pay for a monthly spot. Plus I would rather buy than rent.
