Kw V2's popping noise after installation
Hello everyone,
I have a quick question about the Kw V2's.... I just installed them into my car yesterday and everything seems fine... But today when I was driving my car I notice that everytime I made a left or right turn I hear a popping sound coming from the front. I re-checked all the screws and everything seems fine... Im just wondering if this is normal for the first couple of weeks until the Kw V2's settles in....If anyone that has this problem and was able to fix it please help me!! Any advice would help...Thank you Ron |

check the strut braces above the shock towers in the engine bay. Those are sometimes not tightened. if not, then make sure they jack the car up put a lifter under the car, under the control arms. have them loosen them and while the arms are exactly at 90 degrees (level), have them tighten it again. A lot of times they tighten it when it is hanging down and its under pressure so it does not tighten properly.

You should check to see if the front springs are seated properly on the top and bottom. Also did you install the KW's with camber plates, as loose or worn out camber plates are know to cause popping noises when you turn.

I will bet it is the concave washer on the top of the front shock.
I had the same problem on one of mine. Had to compress the spring, take off the 3 nuts that mount it to the car, drop the unit, and take off the 2" diameter concave washer that the ball bearings ride on. You prob have it on up-side-down. The popping noise is the entire coilover not rotating freely. |
