TMAP Sensor O-Ring Keeps Tearing
A few months ago I installed a VRSF charge pipe on my 2008 335i, and everything was working well for a while. Soon after install it developed a boost leak, and after checking absolutely everything I found it was coming from a damaged o-ring on the TMAP sensor.
After searching for a replacement o-ring and failing to find one, I found a few people saying that the o-ring that comes with the oil filter is the same size as the one on the TMAP sensor. That isn't true (smaller circumference and thicker) but I tried it out anyway. This worked for a couple of days, and then also ended up tearing and causing a boost leak. Thinking that the improperly sized o-ring was the issue, I just went ahead and bought a brand new TMAP sensor so that I would be sure to get the right size. This one just failed on me after a few days as well. When installing the TMAP sensor on the charge pipe I was unable to get it into place without lubricating the o-ring. Is this normal? After lubricating it there was no problem getting it into place. Is this likely an issue with the charge pipe? Any other suggestions on what's causing this? Also, does anyone know where to get the replacement o-ring for the TMAP? |
