Base System Speaker Upgrade
Base System Speaker Upgrade
I am looking at upgrading the speakers on the base system with Coaxial speakers. No Amps or subs. Please can anyone advise if I should use the same make/model of speaker for both front and back or can I mix and match the front pair and add a different brand to the back? I am thinking of using Vibe Slick 4 Or Possibly Focal 100CA1 Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks. |

You can mix match, but:
A) without an amp they won't sound good nor get the power they need, stock HU doesn't output much and has a factory eq to make up for the crappy speakers B) match the impedance based on what's there now, or the sound may not be properly balanced... I believe many oem speakers are 2-ohm instead of the common 4-ohm used in most car speakers.

I had to find 12V constants, as well as remote trigger wire (for key insert, not ignition on), and was able to find both by searching on this forum. I'm pretty sure the info already exists... just be persistent in your search and you'll find it. The community gets frustrated when they end up answering the same questions over and over again, so I strongly encourage you to search thoroughly before posting questions, it will increase your chances of getting good responses when you need them (and you'll likely find what you're looking for without having to ask).

Thanks for the advice. I researched this before going ahead with the install. I have tried fuses 2, 25, 83 And 61 on the 2008 version of the fuse box to no avail. This info I found from the forum so I can only think that the headunit itself has the issue. I know fuses 72 and 73 should also work but have left them alone as I have just had my door actuators replaced and don’t want to make too many changes for the fuses to possibly blow or anything else on the 2. I was just trying to get a second opinion on the matter. Thanks again for the advice. |

Update
I have managed to the power issue out.
I have had to connect both the red and yellow (live and switched live I Think) into the live connection and connected the live 12v feed to fuse 83 which was empty in the UK version 2008 fusebox. This does keep the memory but also doesn't switch the HU off so I have to manually Switch it off. I also installed a set of Vibe Slick 4 on back. but not changed the door speakers so unsure if the sound has improved or not yet. |
