Help with exterior house colors
For past couple of months I been preoccupied with building my own house.
I have no problem using a hammer and table saw. When it comes to coordinating colors I get stuck every time. Are there any paint experts here or architects who could possibly help me with this. We are going for modern look possibly white. I will update picture later when I get home. should probably mention there will be balcony on the front possibly dark railing

When we had our house painted we drove around and looked for other houses to find colors we liked and picked something that way. We'll do the same after the next hurricane season because we are about due. I like house colors that blend into the neighborhood rather than stand out. For example, orange is great for a car but not a house.

The building material, the exterior material matters too.
Personally I go big with details and be bland with the main ones. Also, colors mean shit if you don't do the exterior lighting that'll work with the the colors but even more: With the structures.

Nice! house is gonna look sweet brother! if it were me i guess i would take some pictures and bring it to a professonal painter who can upload it to a computer and give you all kinds of colors examples of what it could look like? Also, i think what landscaping you'll be using can play an important role as well. is the exterior already done or do you have to install some siding?

better to judge with a pic its better now.. if i were you i d do some PS action by painting wooden parts to white or black according to color.. roof edges and garage doors to white or blackish also.. and try light grey, dark red.. you have dark roof and i guess you wont want your house to be seen from 3 miles away with its radical colors since it seems around the house there are not much green.. im adding the house colors i was talking about.. hope it ll help you in good way..
PS: im a designer maybe it can help you to believe more hehe.. ) |

Exterior is almost done on front two things left to do Balcony railing and stone on bottom of the house. What you see in picture is stucco will get painted and cedar will get stained, NO siding not a big fan of siding.

This is my folks house. My dad was his own GC, did A LOT of the work himself, including the sunburst siding you can just see in the background. Laid out a huge template in the garage to cut it because every single piece was unique. He's a lot more handy than me that way. Anyways... he wanted a "true" Victorian which has to have seven colors or something like that. So he spent a lot of time picking out colors. He used all CertainTeed and when he was done and sent them pics, they sent out a photographer and it's still, 10 years later, on their site and in their print catalogue. CertainTeed ended up compensating them a little. One other interesting note about that house... The 5 acre lot was heavily wooded. He had the hardwoods felled and hauled to a mill about 10 miles away. The trees that stood on the lot are now the hardwood floors in the house and much of the woodwork, which he and I stained. Anyways... the link: https://www.certainteed.com/siding-t...round-shingles |

Yeah, darkish red, I think... it's what comes up in the link. There are more pics on CertainTeed's site. Lots of color in that house. If you can see the copper roof over the bump-out for the "parlor", that's it.
