For Sale: 2007, Manual, 335i Coupe
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ME LOW BALL OFFERS
I can't afford the maintenance on the car, so I have decided to sell it. I bought the car this past July for $11000 ($13300 after tax and everything) with 62,000 miles on it. The car now has 70,000 miles. The car is an absolute joy to drive and I love it, but sadly I can't afford it. I'm only looking for offers and have not set a price for the car because of the circumstances below. Here are some details about the car. -6 Speed Manual -Exterior is alpine white with a gloss black roof, Interior=Black leather with a dark walnut trim. -70,000 Miles -Sports Package(Sports steering wheel, 18" alloy wheels, and sport seats.) -Cold Weather Package(Heated Seats) -Premium Package(Leather upholstery, a compass, auto dimming mirrors, and blue-tooth) -Moon roof -Premium Sound -All weather floor matts -The car has a brand new starter, which was a $700 job, one new fuel injector, and a two month old battery. There is 2000 miles until it needs another oil change. The car needs a new waste-gate, new front wheels(one is bent and one is cracked,,new drivers side mirror for the sun visor(it is cracked), weather lining for around the most of the car, a new headlight on the drivers side, and probably a new front bumper(it is cracked). Aside from these problems, the car is giving seat belt and airbag lights which came on simultaneously(I read this is likely a failed sensor). The rear bumper has some scratches but is not noticeable unless up close, the drivers side side skirt needs one more clip to be properly secured, the car is giving the unbalanced headlight warning light as well, but this is a fairly common issue. The largest issue with the car is the left door. The previous owner was in an accident where the car was hit on the left side. I'm not sure if the door is original or not, but the side mirror definitely is not. Because of the accident, when the window is opened while driving over 35 miles per hour, when you close it there is a tiny crack between the window and car which lets in air. I'm sure someone who is good with cars can fix this problem by readjusting the door quite easily. These cars with low mileage are difficult to come by, especially when they are fully loaded and have a manual transmission. That being said, this car is a piece of work. I strongly advise against inquiring about this car if you can't afford to fix these problems, or don't know how to fix these problems yourself. Keep in mind, although the car has an overwhelming amount of problems none of them are very expensive to fix, especially if you know your way around BMW's. Leave me a private message with your name, number and questions if you are seriously interested in this car. Last edited by hurleypatrick; 01-12-2018 at 05:12 PM.. Reason: more pictures and details |

Hey Hurley,
I'm going to try and be as kind as possible here and not shit all over your post. But the reality is we are all enthusiasts here and I feel like you may be a bit uninformed on what the cost is to get your car back to normal stock operation. I'm going to try and go through this one by one. If you disagree on any of my points let’s have an open discussion. That is what forums are for. July 2017 bought for 13,300 you put only 8k miles on it in less than a year which is about average if you assume 12k a year. I'm going to address this as a DIYer and not mention what a shop would charge for labor. Which, btw, would be in the thousands of $$$. New wastegate: Ok well a new wastegate is semi inexpensive assuming you are capable of changing them out. $88 bucks. https://www.ebay.com/i/302056776590?chn=ps The issue is given the labor(no shop involved) it takes to remove and fix no one would ever reinstall 10 year old 70k turbochargers with new wastegates. You would still have to buy an install kit either way(200). New turbos and install kit is around $1500 uninstalled. Two used bmw wheels & used tires, being generous, $400. New mirror/assembly, assuming you find it used in your color, $120. All new weather stripping $100, you may be able to find it slightly cheaper. Drivers side headlight used: $500 on ebay. Some are cheaper but they are probably beat AF. They go as high as $700 used. Buyer beware of the cheap ones. Used front bumper + spray at a body shop: at least $500 uninstalled 300 for bumper 200 for paint. Maybe you get lucky and find your color in good shape at a wrecker, $300. Seat belt and airbag lights? Well the car can't pass inspection and no one will buy a car in such condition. Let’s hope it's an easy fix, say $300 at a shop as you can't diagnose it yourself obviously. That is 3 hours of shop time, assuming no new parts or modules or coding is needed(unlikely). Driver's side skirt needs only one clip? Then just buy it and fix it if it is so easy. My bet is it needs to be replaced as something else is broken/damaged. Assuming you find used at a wrecker in your color $100 best case + install. Unbalanced headlight is not a common issue. What makes you think this is common? My guess is the replaced headlight will fix this issue. If not, more $$$. The window and the door. The window is inside of the door. So, adjusting the door is very unlikely to fix the problem. If you move the door up, back, forward, etc. it will likely have latching issues or other. If it would be easy to fix, as you claim, wouldn't you just do it yourself if it is so easy? My guess is you will need to take off the door skin and pray you can get it to fit correctly. It will probably never seal correctly as this accident was obviously not fixed at a body shop, or a competent one. If you can DIY it yourself in an hour great, if not new door time, assuming you can find the right color etc. at a wrecker $150 best case + install which is not as easy as you may think. You claim none of these problems are very expensive to fix. I think you have NO IDEA what you are talking about. If they were so easy and inexpensive to fix you would have done this yourself. Your last statement just sends red flags all over the place. Next up anyone buying a 10 year old E9X at 70k miles knows the following is going to happen and might as well just be fixed immediately: Injectors, amazingly you or you found a shop to only replace one and code it. They are ticking timebombs. $600+ from FCP euro uninstalled(this one is actually an easy job, assuming you can code them which 99% of people can’t). I would want to know who replaced the injector first and how they coded it. I would guess they did not code. Either way best practice is to replace the entire bank(3 cylinders) if not just do all 6 and call it a day with a lifetime warranty from FCP. Injectors on these cars shit the bed on the reg. Water pump. Very rarely do they last past 75k, age only makes it worse. With the n54 the general rule of thumb is a new waterpump every 75k miles. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...11517632426kit $450. While anyone is messing with the turbos this is a no brainer. No one would replace the turbos and not do this while in there unless they just wanted to flip the car and not keep it. Clutch will be needed in the next 20k if not less. $580 uninstalled. 2k miles for the next oil change? Is this what the computer tells you? BMW recommended 15k oil changes on this car iirc which is nuts. Even the updated 10k is a bit extreme. Most enthusiasts do 5k full syn. So basically, the car needs an oil change now is my guess. I would do that regardless if any new car I purchased as people are usually notorious with oil changes(shame) So let’s add on $60 for decent oil and filter DIY. The car has no NAV. Now the BMW nav is not amazing but it’s better than nothing. It also makes the car look significantly dated as most cars come with nav now especially a luxury car sold around this time. KBB says it is worth private party 6-7.5k in good condition with no accidents. Given the massive list of issues I would give you 3k if I wanted to keep it and fix it back to ‘correct’ condition with no issues. 2k if I wanted to flip it and be honest about the status of the car to the seller. There is a ton to fix at the end of the day. Everything above is without ANY labor. If you paid a shop to fix all the issues and bring it back to sellable condition you would be looking at 5k+ from any reputable shop. If you doubt me call any reasonable shop in the area who do decent work and show me the estimate. Seriously. The car is not currently in sellable condition as it will fail inspection left and right. You don’t mention the condition of the other 3 tires. I can only guess not great given the rest of the car. Not trying to be rude but I don’t think you understand the costs to bring this car back to sellable ‘normal’ condition. You make it sound easy, but if that was the case you would have done all this work yourself. Also, you paid 13k for this car? What bank would ever give you a loan that high for a car worth significantly less? Credit unions only do a max of 20% above book. Assuming you really paid 13k for it, it has devalued by around 60%+ in less than a year. This is not considering the massive list of issues it has. Feel free to correct me. I used fair prices I believe without labor. Could you do it cheaper? Sure. You could also spend significantly more doing it right and a TON more if you handed this car off to a shop. I tried to be fair in my costs. I write this just so other people have an idea what they are getting into. As one enthusiast to another, if everything is as you say, which I doubt, fix it yourself and then sell the car. Otherwise anyone who buys this is going to buy a money pit. Finally, if you really want to sell this car post the car fax so we can all see the real history of this car involving accidents etc. If any fellow enthusiasts disagrees or have other thoughts I would love to hear it. I’m all for an open and honest discussion. As for the massive long post, I have the time as I am watching the mickey mouse club house with my son and this is 1000X more interesting GO PATS!!!!!!
