2011 335d Fuel Injector problem?

Hi Everyone,

Was recently getting error codes for my 335d say both fuel injectors 3 and 4 smoothness regulator cyclinder injector correction which was outside the range setting.

So i bought 2 bosch refurbised injectors and put them in. After install I am still getting the same error message but only for injector 3. I checked the resistance on the new injectors and they are 177 and 178. what else can be the problem?

error code is 004596.

Thanks

Wade

Have you had this problem before? What would the part number be?

Thanks for your response.

The zero-adaption setting needs to be coded into the DDE. You're lucky that the #4 is working and not reporting an error. It probably will, eventually.

Zero-adaption setting adjusts for the inevitable variance in the injectors - the manufacturing process results in each injector being just a bit different than another. The DDE uses the zero-adaption to adjust the injector opening pulses to inject the correct amount of fuel for each firing.

DDE. That’s what I meant. I was having the same problem when my car was under CPO. They replaced turbos, sent heads out to be cleaned, you name it. Finally someone here said it was the DDE and sent me to a dealer that was familiar with it

By dde, you mean software update? I recall an update in a tsb for the zero quantity adaptation faults.

DDE is Digital Diesel Electronics. That's the name for the diesel engine control unit and ancillary units.

Software updates are available for *all* computer units in our cars, not just the DDE.

Ordering some K+DSCAN cables and have the INPA software installed from this site and will code my injectors myself and see if this fixes the issue.

If not will have to try BMW updating the DDE.

Thanks for everyones help !

Installed the ISTA D program and coded by fuel injectors and definitely made a difference in rough idling issue. However still getting smooth running error on cylinder #3. Having CBU done this week and hopefully it goes away otherwise from what I am reading on here will probably have to replace the DDE.

FWIW, some of us on another thread are experiencing the similar issues with cylinder codes (zero adaptation) and CBU did not resolve it. Not saying your car doesn't need a CBU, just saying seems like some patterns lately.

CBU is my last try before I will replace the DDE. Just need to locate a good used one if necessary or send it for reprogramming at www.ecutesting.com.

Reset all adaptations, including wheel increment. Also run a few tankfuls of fuel treated with Hot Shots Diesel Extreme.

Did you update the dde? I recall there was a tsb dealing with zero adaptation issues.
You can get ista-p or use ncsexpert. Dde updating with k+dcan is fine just make sure you have a strong battery charger, or 2 in parallel. Or if you have a second car, keep it running with jumper cables to the bmw.
