Squeaky belt
Hi guys,
Can't remember if I asked about this on here. From a cold start my cars serpentine belt is a bit noisy. Goes away once the car is warm. I bought a new belt. Do I just replace the belt? I believe the water test is supposed to prove its just the belt losing its condition rather than a bad bearing in one of the pulleys or guides. This was starting the car first thing in the morning. Temp was probably a little over 0 centigrade. Here's a clip.

It's likely the belt.
If you want to be proactive you could change all the pulleys (including alternator pulley) and tensioner since you're already working on it. Personally I would just change the belt and go from there. Which belt did you get? |

I do like to be proactive. I changed my vanos solenoids even though I had a code just once. Most bits on the car are replaced or upgraded. On this occasion I'll do just the belt. 73,000 miles. Doesn't seem too high.
The one I went for is this one "Dayco 134Bm0700 Engine V Ribbed Drive Belt 7 Ribs 7Pk1855" IIRC it was the correct size etc. I didn't go for the cheapest. You often seem to get what you pay for but a simple rubber belt is a rubber belt. Others could be better. I'm not sure tbh.

Let us know how that manufacturer holds up.
I was more so curious if your car called for 1855 or 1860. Lots of shops don't pay much attention to this and put 1860 belts when car calls for 1855. |
