Stock resonator question

Hey guys, I have an E90 and I'm trying to understand the exhaust flow through the stock catback system. Everything is easy but I have one question with the resonator... does the stock resonator mix the two exhaust streams or keep them separate internally? I would imagine it would mix them through a single chamber but was hoping for confirmation.

I know with E92/E93 this isn't a question since they have an H-pipe in place of the resonator.

It mixes.
Dump it and put in an X-pipe.

I had an e90 335i, and now have an e92 335i. The e92 is definitely louder, it actually has a whiff of drone stock. You can hear it start from 60 feet away, inside a well insulated brick house.
