E91 Mac Mini Install
I have completed the first phase of my Mac Mini install in my 06 E91. Pictures and walkthrough to follow soon.
In the mean time, enjoy the video [u2b]<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qxUiN66DCL0&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qxUiN66DCL0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>[/u2b] |

Really cool, and that's the kind of thing I'd do, don't get me wrong, but what's the point of this rather than just sticking an iPod or USB HDD in the center console? Just more like a cool kind of thing to do?

At this point, the goal was just to get the Mini into the car and play music. I am building a web application that will be able to launch other AppleScript commands on the computer for even more functionality. That is when the project will get really fun. I worked on the interface a little bit, you can check it out here: Mini Sandbox. None of the buttons will do anything off the web server, obviously. Right now they just point to Google.com. But when powered off the mini, each button will call a CASE in php and execute the AppleScript server side.
I'm having a problem with the power in the back though. Those two lines for the Changer and Sat Radio seem to disable the power after the car has been powered off and idle for about 5 minutes. I think going to have to end up running a direct line from the battery on the other side of the vehicle. Good thing I used those quick connects! |
