In an Accident today
heres the story: driving normally and suddenly the car in front of me steps on the break hard, following natural instincts i did too. luckily i made the stop in time with about 6 inches away from the car in front of me. however, the car behind me did not and slammed into my rear bumper. he has noticeable front damage and his air bags deployed but were both fine. my airbags did not deploy. we're both uninjured. the driver behing me has some scratches on his arms from the airbag. the police let us both go. his car needed to be towed because it was deemed undrivable at the time. they let me drive off with scratches on my bumber and a bend exhaust.
the question: i just want to clarify that i am not at fault in this incident? the driver that hit me was very co-operative. he has some minor scratches on his arms from the airbag. |

If someone hit you from behind, it's always that driver's fault for not maintaining safe distance between you and him.
Any back pains? You should definitely go to a hospital and check it out even if you don't feel any pains. Sorry to hear it man. Any damages to the bumper other than scratches? Depending on the damage, you can get a Mtech rear bumper on his expense.

im gonna get my neck checked out. might develop somthing overnight. my bumper is has alot of scratches and the bottom of it is pulled outwards (probably when my car move away from his car) and the muffler tips are bend 90 degrees downward . and i think it moved the resonator out of place also. its lower than usual. most definetly i will have to get a new bumper. as of right now. i just wanted to clerify that im not at fault thanks!

is there an m-tech website? I'm new to the entire 3 series scene as a prospective buyer, so forgive me as the depth of my knowledge in this arena is indeed shallow. I just want to see what the fuss re: M-tech bumpers is all about.

At least the guy who rear-ended you was cooperative. The worst is when they argue with you and try to convince you that it's in fact your fault. I laughed and turned away once when that happened to me, then I let the officer calm the guy down. A lot of people just don't want to be blamed even if they caused an accident.
Well, you're OK so that's good! If you feel any back pain, go to the hospital right away. -D.J. |

i was very surprised how cooperative the other driver was. he immediatly came out to see if i was okay. properly exchanged infos and all that. mybe its time for a new muffler tip also instead of the stock chrome ones. im just glad no one is injured. got a appointment with icbc tmr. so we'll see how this turns out.

Glad to hear it wasn't a more serious accident. Do keep a record of how your body feels from the moment after the accident.
I got hit from behind last December by a van while I was waiting to make a left turn. My trunk got crunched up to the bottom of the rear window and I hit the guy in front from the momentum despite stomping on the brake pedal. The car got written off and my wife and I are still feeling the effects from the accident are are still going for physiotherapy. |

it appears that the other drivers car is considered a write off. his car has front frame damage. i dont know if mine has frame damge (appointment tmr) but what is the fate of my car if it does have frame damage?
did you have to pay at your own expense mr&mrs323 for your new car? i hope its just a bumper damage. but the fact that he has frame damage makes me wonder about mine. |

Having been rear ended by someone doing 78Kms on impact, here are somethings I learned from my recover period.
1) Do not sign anything, until your lawyer says so. 2) Always double check with a lawyer, just to be on the safe side 3) Start a day-by-day journal on how you feel 4) See your doctor and have him check you out It has been 10 years since my accident and I am still feeling the affect. Not sure how hard you got hit, but adjust the above info to suit you.
