Help me decide
So I really want to lower my e90 328 XI sedan
I do not want to spend more than - 2000$ as I m doing this mostly for looks , but I also want a bit of performance, this car is never tracked Coilovers was my first choice at 1700$ for ST ( by KW) , but after doing some research , I m reconsidering this option. ST coilovers have good reviews , they are on the upper end of my budget, however the are steel galvanized and I live in Canada, I also drive the car all year round , so salt and snow may be a problem. Also there have adjusted damping , which means I can only adjust ride height My second choice was to start with lowering springs, nothing crazy just a very smalll drop , keep the original shocks , price was around 600 $ which is a lot more affordable and I still have money left for other mods. Problem with this option was my stock shocks, I m at 65 0000 miles right now , I have read that lowering spring reduce the live of the shocks . I have also read a small drop may be ok . So here it is , 2 options. Of course if I go the lowering spring way , I would upgrade my shocks in the future. But can anyone chime in if doing the lowering spring combo would be the same as doing the KT coilovers , except for the height adjustment. Any other recommendations? Thank guys! |

I know canadian and us dollars vary
But I have no idea where you’re finding $600 springs thas insane, here H&R being a good brand are 250 with cheaper brands being around 200 or less And I’m not an enginner but it makes sense why they would shorten your shock’s life So springs are out the question for me I’d say wait till your shocks give out and get some coilovers and put some rustoleum on them Or if you have a decent life left in them get the coilovers now and sell your oem ones to somebody to makeup for the cost |

Get the ST's. And get a complete kit, so your replace all the wear and tear parts at the same time. The St kit has $150 rebate right now, so the price is well within your budget. As for galvanized steel, your factory BMW shocks are galvanized.
Here's a pic of the kit: |
