OK, I have my doubt about Menzerna...
product table.
Menzerna cut rating for IP (not SIP) is > PO106FF but my un-scientific test (rubbing a dab of each polish between my thumb and index finger) indicate that PO106FF has coarser abbrassive materials in it. Well, I've got this review and sold on IP: http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums...ad.php?t=43050 and also don't want to buy SIP which only comes in 32oz, thinking I won't be polishing cars more than once in a year. Well the only thing left is to try them I guess. |

maybe someone more knowledgable can add to this but i think there are many variables when determining whether SIP or IP should be used; type of clear coat (ceramic?), softness of clear coat, machine or hand applied, rotary or orbital, etc.i went ahead and got the SIP, worked well when coupled w/ 106FF, both were recommended by the forum sponsor who know the year and make of my car and that i was a newbie using a flex.
i'd be willing to trade enough of my SIP (to do one car - 3 oz) if you have anything to trade in return? |

I could never get good cut from Intensive Polish, and I didn't like it because it dusts too much. But I remember it froze when I first got it so that might have affected it. Regardless, I love SIP because it doesn't dust as much.

While I do love most optimum products, their polishes are not one of them...they do work well for increasing work time or keeping dust down when mixing them into other products.

Alright, let's get with some facts. 106FF and SIP *do* have harder abrasives than IP/FP. In fact, that's the entire idea - they are ceramiclear polishes afterall. That said, IP still has more cut than 106ff; it has larger abrasives, and (arguably) more of them. I think one of the issues that people have with 106 is that it will fill; and because of this it often seems like it has more cut than it does. Actually, if I am not mistaken even FP has more cut than 106ff, but you would never know unless you prepsol each time you use 106.
Between SIP and 106 there is rarely a need for IP/FP, however as anyone who has used SIP extensively knows when you have silicone on the surface of the car it is a nightmare to use; that's where IP comes in. |
