What the hell is going on with Toronto?

Is it just me or are people in this city going crazy? Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the gas prices, I don't know - but people are getting seriously wiggy I had an old lady give me the finger today (I have no idea why, my ugly face?); that was right after I watched a biker smack the window off a new camry (in Richmond Hill of all places). Then I came home to two people fighting on Roncesvalles. Like, fist-fighting. Older guys, in the road.

Tonight there are some kids on my street throwing bottles at cars.

I realize this is a big city and I live downtown, but this shit is getting out of hand. I'm going to start a grow op and start pimping.

Anyone else feeling a serious need to get out of the big smoke for awhile? Or forever?

You could always move out west (Calgary)

I think it's just a combination of EVERYTHING.

Too much heat, and not enough pussy. Well atleast that's what's making me go crazy here and there. lol

But throwing bottles at cars? That's whack man. It's a good thing you got that garage built!

I do miss the west coast, but Calgary (despite being pretty cool) isn't it. I'm not sure, I've thought about it. I do like the interior of BC/western Alberta. Ontario really is irritating me lately.

I haven't seen any fisti-cuffs today, but coming home this evening I was driving north up the 404 with my wife and daughter. We were just entering the car pooling lane and it was pretty quiet and I had the cruise on at 130 and this guy was riding right on my ass so I just flash my brake lights a couple of times without really slowing down. He backs off a tad, then crosses the solid white line passes me, flips me the finger, overtakes the car in front of me then crosses the solid white line back into the car pooling lane and carries on just a tad faster than me and starts riding right on the guys ass a few cars ahead.

I'm trying to stay more relaxed and chilled in the car now and it really pisses me of when people don't leave enough space behind me, especially when I have my daughter in the car with me. Rather than get pissed off I was just glad he was off tailgating someone else and not me.

Ya... frustration at a possible recession... $95 to fill my tank today for my TL and $93 for my BMW. Geez... even I'm starting to feel the pinch! (not to be arrogant but my industry is pretty immune to stuff like this)

The heat from my broken A/C made me lose my temper today a little too.

Nope, it's not just you. I notice an uptick in inconsiderate drivers AND
pedestrians. I just had a convo today about how long I am willing
to live downtown. Lately i've been thinking about the dirt, congestion,
etc and I'd love a small modest but handsome home in the GTA like
off main street unionville or off main street markham. I'd still have
access to downtown, yet a cleaner environ and more breathing room.

I would blame David Miller. Everything that is wrong is this city is because of him!

Ya, me too. Brake-checking is bad mojo though. Not that I disagree with it, but it really, really seems to set people off. Especially on the 400's near TO.

I totally hear that. We tried to move to a burb in NorCal and it made us crazy, so I am torn. Stay downtown and suck up the madness, or move somewhere way out like Mulmur. We're kind of stuck here for a bit, so I guess I'll just have to drink a lot and shrug it all off.

Haha, I can't tell if you're kidding or not... Sadly, David Miller, despite saying some stupid crap in the media, doesn't even register on my radar of things I give a shit about.

haha! Too bad my house doesn't move so rolling down the windows doesn't do too much if it's not a cool breeze.

haha! But you probably mean the car :P The car's A/C works fine in both cars That's the ONLY place I get my refuge! I gotta call up A1 and get them to fix the A/C tomorrow. Any ideas...? The heatpump doesn't turn on. The fan in the basement turns on so there's air coming out of the vents, but the heatpump outside doesn't blow. Like the switch ON/OFF outside is ON and the fuse in the basement for that is ok also. Booo....

^^ You know, not to sound like a tree-hugger or anything, but apparently using a fan is much more efficient and can be upto 75% cheaper than running the A/C. lol

And 75% more crabby wife.

I can deal with the heat, but when Mrs. Picus says the AC is going on, the AC goes on. Sweaty grumpy Mrs Picus throws bottles at cars.

I actually LOLed at that one.

At least she's only at the bottles stage. I'd hate to see her whip out her guns and duke it out with ya!

As an immigrant myself I think I'm doomed to living in the city. Small town people don't seem to be that welcoming to outsiders.

Ya, I guess I've never had to deal with that. In fact, I get more grief in my current hood than ever...they are all Polish and I am not, so it's, weird? I find people north of the city, say like Richmond Hill, Maple, Markham, etc are pretty cool with different ethnicities. Maybe it varies from hood to hood. Where are you from?

It was funny . Currently downtown Toronto, although I lived all my life in big cities, I'm thinking about moving out. Just have to find a nice suburb with a city centre with small mom and pop shops.

As much as it may seem better out in the burbs or in the hicks it isn't much different. Just different vehicles. They pull the same s%t out here except with pick up trucks and gravel trucks.

We moved way out here from Scarberia 6 years ago and still feel like we're in a different country. My daughters get called Dora! LOL

At least the air is fresh....like manure on a hot humid day

I think it's a generalization. I'm asian and was born / raised in a small town in New Brunswick (population 6,000). Not once did I receive a cold shoulder/disrimination or racism. It was such a normal life there that I forgot I was a minority Ironically I'm more aware now living in the GTA.
