Any recommendations? Only sticking to stuff that can be bought at pep boys or kragen or some auto parts store near 626. He washed his car yesterday and now its filthy. And how does he get rid of the swirls? Thanks.

Buffers aren't impossible to learn but I hear it's quite a handful if you want to do it right.

Some buffers have 'safety cut off' for lack of better words, meaning you can burn the paint off if improperly use. Yes, you can learn...just nothing you can find locally like stated.

...but then you mentioned swirls. Removing swirls is to washing what driving a BMW on a highway is to F1 racing. I am not saying it's super hard, I am saying it is going to require some serious effort, research, and cash outlay.

So, let's start - how bad are you swirls? Do you have a pic? If not, find a picture on my site that resembles your swirls. Example.

More: If you think you can learn how to use a rotary on a black BMW you are wrong. If you mean a random orbital like a PC or Flex than you have a better chance for sure.

I can promise you... like, 100%, that if you try to use a rotary for the first time on a black BMW, no matter how much reading you've done, you're going to hack that sucker up. My advice, read about RO's like the Flex, then buy one, then practice with it on a crap car, then use it on the BMW.

youtube has some good vids too btw. also, if u really wanna clean that bmw, w/ all the buffin, swirl removal, wax/polish, its gonna put u bak at least 200 since u'll want a flex or portercable to start out with. from there, u gotta worry about pads, microfiber towels, clay bars, waxes (souveran or carnauba)
