I've installed upgraded turbos and decided to install the big daddy vrsf race FMIC to replace my AMS.
The AMS FMIC is manufactured in the USA by AMS who continue to set WR's with their alpha R35 GTR (they build great stuff) and this is a high quality intercooler with heavy duty cast end tanks, 3" inlet and outlet for max flow and goes away from the shit oem bmw fittings. You can buy cheap chinese copies from alixpress, but when you put them side by side you can clearly see the AMS fin pack is a whole lot denser. What this means is there is less surface area in the core, thus making it a whole lot less effective, instead of supressing IAT's or maintaining a set IAT, the cheap chinese fmics see IAT'S rise considerably. The consequence of this, is that you put more stress on the turbo/s and the DME starts saying nup and robbing you of power. Some good reading here re chinese aliexpress FMIC's: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php… The AMS FMIC will come with a brand new silicon lower cold side J pipe from my vrsf race fmic which afaik can be trimmed to suit both N54 & N55. Ive only done 9000 odd kays with this FMIC installed so its like new and essentially almost 50% off RRP. Thankfully there was no excessive oil, just a very tiny amount of oil mist, so it's reassuring to know my pcv system is healthy (had a few mm of oil in my OCC) and this FMIC isnt clogged up with oil. Im happy to post anywhere at your expense ![]() Thanks for looking, please let me know if you have any queries! Location: Newcastle Price $SOLD$ |
