2008 Honda Civic or Scion tC?
any experiences on either of these 2?
power, mileage and pricing are about the same. just not sure which one drives better and is more reliable.

the Civic will be more fun, especially the SI.

My wife drives an 08 tC and it's a blast. She did shop the Civic but found the Scion to have more power in base trim, more room, especially in the back seat and overall more fun to drive.
It's a bargain for the price too. We love it. |

I am a Honda fan and would go with the Civic, espically the Si. But all your questions can be answer by just going and test driving both. And i think overall value of the honda will last longer and be worth more later.

Yep Si...sedan or coupe choose your pick. The Tc is just ok, not enough power and it's definitely a chick car. The interior is nice though, nice quality. The Si is more expensive but worth it, you get about 40hp more, a 6speed manual, and helical LSD. The Si redlines all the way up to and past 8k rpm!! The Si gas pedal is similar to our 3-series, it's so easy to heal-toe on that thing and mpg (21/29) is not bad for a performance oriented vehicle. Test drive and you'll see/feel the difference. My brother picked one up for about $22.5k w/navi. Can't go wrong with either car, but Honda would be my choice.

The standard civic has better mpg if thats a consideration. I agree the Si is a must test drive (better than the tC), but the mpg (Si 20/29) is worst than the standard civic (26/34) but comparable to the tC (20/27).
Si vs tC, I'll definitely go with the Si, its a very fun drive. And if you set up your deals properly, the Si and tC (fixed Scion pricing) is closer on price to warrant a close comparo.

Civic SI all the way. I'm still trying to come up with a justified reason to get one myself. Really fun car.

friend has both a SI sedan and a tC... i think they're equally reliable but I would prefer the SI just because its a little faster--both look pretty damn good tho.

For a gas sipper I went and looked at the Si. Nice car and all but wanted something I could "up" the HP a bit with some minor mods. Ended up going with a MCS. Unreal value retention too. Quick, fun as hell to drive and a lot more room than I thought. After 3 months, 28.5mpg in city traffic with a pretty heavy size 13.

Btw they are doing a mid-model redesign for 09, so wait out for that. Also late 08s and any 09s will already have the new 3d synchro, so you won't have to deal with the grind.
