BASE Sound System Upgrade
So I'm looking to upgrade the sound system in my 2011 E90 with the IDRIVE base sound system. I've done my share of research but there's so much information out there that I really don't understand which has caused me to keep delaying this project. Also a lot of threads are old so the components are outdated or not in production anymore.
What I'm looking for: -Clearer sound, better bass -Plug & Play (no splicing) -Under 800$ -Not difficult to install With all that being considered, I was leaning towards the Alpine upgrade or the Bavsound upgrade but from what I've seen, people 50/50 are on them. |

Bimmertech Helix 82dsp kit.
might be an 86dsp kit now I think the 82 was discontinued. Those other upgrades don't do much.(Alpine and Bavsound) Bav Sound re markets the Bimmertech Helix kit. You will need to upgrade at least the front door and floors speakers to make it really fly . Jehnerts for floors or maybe a Gladen or Audio systems kit for floors and doors. 1500 is more in line for some real quality . http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1487941 Last edited by ctuna; 04-19-2018 at 06:34 PM.. |

the cheapest way is alpine kit
then hifi kit from junkyard or top hifi (harman) kit and after that goes bimmertech amp topicstarter, are you sure you have BASE system and not hifi system ? do you have tweeters in front doors now ?

Yeah I saw those options but I can't really justify spending about a quarter of what the car is worth on a speaker system upgrade.

The MB Quart e90 drop in kit (3-way) plus a JL 600/6 could keep you within budget, especially if you find a deal on good used amp etc.
And are comfortable doing your own install... not too hard, to save on labour. May still need to pay someone to code your HU to hifi.
