Rear brakes gone for 35000 miles to 1400 miles left ??
Hi all
Had my rear disks and pads replaced 2 years ago. 2010 e93 with 90k on cloak. Had approx 35000 miles left on the little countdown when you start the car Today, it flagged up 1500 miles and after a 25 mile trip it went down to 1400 miles It’s not warning me as yet. Checked pads and there’s 50% left on them easy, possible a lot more. Disks are as new, no lip etc. Could it be a fault on the computer? Last time it was serviced it shows 56% rear and 75% left on fronts. That was 4 months ago Or a faulty wear sensor? Can I reset or change the amount left via DCAN Cable (which I have) Thanks |

My brake pad wear sensor used to go off at random every so often. You can just eyeball them like you did and then follow the steps reset the dash warning.

I know the sensor is two stage but this is for the Amber and red warning lights on the dash, it has nothing to do with the countdown which is based on mileage

Yes, the “BRAKE” light turns amber and sometimes red. This is my second set of pads with the rotor, therefore they have a slight lip at the edges. The pads still have iirc 4-5 mm or so. Sometimes the car on lift symbol also showed up.
I cut the old cable but left the sensor head in the pad (hard to remove). Tie the wires, left the ignition on (engine off), and all back to normal. just need to remember to check the pads periodically. |
