Wing mirrors : quick question.

Hi all,

Just a quickie.

Can you mount the internals( motor for power fold ) from pre lci on lci wing mirrors?

I have lci 335 with manual mirrors but have found a cheap set of power fold pre lci mirrors that have the base plates damaged but the rest is fully working so was thinking of swapping everything over to my lci mirrors if it can be done?

Prolly because no-one's ever done it. Never read of this being achieved before...

Don't even bother. The baseplates don't change willingly and to remove them requires drilling out a bush and springs.

I've just attempted this recently and whilst my brother was able to weld them back up afterwards, there is no resistance now and I fully expect when wired and coded that they will fold out and past the point they are meant to sit at.

I bought a pair with m sport baseplates last year but one was broken during transit. Thinking it could be easily swapped I negotiated a discount and kept them, my mistake.

I've now bought a replacement mirror and will wire/code them soon hopefully. I'll retain the bodged one in case I need to replace it in future on a short term basis.

Bloody hell, sounds like a bit of a nightmare then.
Guess I’ll just keep my eyes open for a pair of lci power folds or do I mix it up and put some pre lci mirrors on my lci car? 🤔
