VRSF DCI Review
I originally was going to keep the engine bay stock looking and keep it totally sleeper. However after doing some research and talking to some of the boys on here I came to the conclusion that some form of air intake is needed due to the very restrictive nature of the stock air box.
Due to this restriction it’s also in turn made my stock turbos work less efficiently and significantly harder. The only fact that put me off the DCIs was heat soak, however this has been discussed endless times and disproved or shown to have minimal IAT differences comparing it to the stock air box. Plus where I live doesn’t get hot enough and it isn’t being tracked either. Another fact which helped with my decision was the potential minor/negligible air increase is offset by the increased air flow especially being paired up with a good intercooler (mine being VRSF 7” HD) All my mods so far are VRSF and I thought why not get there intake so I’m FBO VRSF. I hit Tiago up about this and I ordered this item on last Thursday and received on Monday, considering I’m based in New Zealand I thought that was pretty dam quick! Installation is perfect doesn’t knock or clash against anything at all, it literally took half an hour if that. Aesthetically in the engine bay they look aggressive and eye catching. Performance wise, well mid to top end has increased noticeably, it really seems to pull harder, with my MAF increasing tenfold, with current IAT hovering around the same as when the stock box was installed. Will be getting my map adjusted to accomodate them too. They sound awesome too, you can really hear them working when accelerating, then on deacceleration you can here the turbos a lot more too. Just adds a more aggressive note all round. Overall I really do rate this product, and they really do work. Was sceptical at first but really have been proved otherwise. If your application is street and a daily they are perfect, the heat soak element really seems to be some what of a myth. VRSF in general are a great company and have really catered to the N54/55 application and I couldn’t recommend them more to anyone and everyone, I wouldn’t have gone full VRSF otherwise, I have there: Downpipes Chargepipe Inlets FMIC DCIs Here are some pictures below
