EGR valve walnut blasting
My egr valve has significant build up of charbon. I have an inexpensive Harbor Freight portable blaster ($29) and a bag of grounded walnut shell. I gave it a try: within 10 minutes I get both large and small bores smooth and squeaky.
After I finished, I was surprised to find a few posts claims to use soda blasting to clean it. The rationale behind it is to protect electronic part. I never though clean the internal bore could damage the electronic part. Where is the electronic part inside the bores? |

I don't see an issue with using walnut shells instead of soda. It was just what I had available at the time and I didn't want to waste the walnut shells on the EGR.
