That really sucks to hear your mechanic fucked it. Hopefully he is doing the right thing by you.

It may be a long shot, but just yesterday Pickles Perth auctioned off an 08 e93 335i , manual, with only 80,000km. I was registered to bid but it went for silly money. I wanted it to do a manual conversion!

It may be worth calling some of the local wreckers to see if they are parting it out, but judging by the price paid(and the fact it is a repairable write off) I think it will be reborn.
