ID3 Tag Display Truncated
I notice that the RDS display on FM radio stations shows both artist and song title and also "scrolls" to show long names.
Why doesn't the radio do the same for MP3 song titles on a USB stick? All I see is the song title, and, if it's a long name, it gets truncated so you can't even see the full title. No artist info at all. |

No nav. The stock US radio plus factory installed USB/iPod adapter.
The "scrolling" on the radio stations is just alternating displays showing the next part of the text. It isn't an actual scrolling movement, but it's better than nothing. I wonder why the same can't be done with the MP3 files playing locally? |

yeah... bmw "professional"
no id3 tag scroll no ability to select artist/title/album/track display on the headunit no volume display no track time display no ability to play gapless cds plus bunch of other problems... i am seriously considering replacing the head unit. i used to work at a stereo/alarm install place years ago, and one of our customers wanted OEM look with aftermarket stereo we installed an aftermarket stereo, but we made it recessed in the dash board. then we bought an OEM stereo on ebay, cut off the faceplate and out of that we made a cover that went right over aftermarket stereo, when it was not in use. From the outside it looked 100% OEM

Parial thread jack...
I noticed that for song title, the head unit reads the file name, not the ID3 track title tag. So if I have a file titled: PearlJam_Ten_Porch, the track name shows up exactly like that (or whatever fits). Where it should show just 'Porch', which is what the ID3 tag is. Is there a way to change this? |
