Headlamp Assembly Replacement - Halogen. Taiwanese replacement.
Just thought I'd share my experience - bought a Taiwanese headlamp assembly for about $90 on ebay instead of the Valeo or TYC which seem to be ~$250. The old assembly 'blew up' the contacts on the turn signal light mount, so it had to replaced (I tried a new mount with no success).
It's actually not too hard to remove the bumper to get access to the headlamp mount - plenty of guides around. One doesn't need to remove the bumper entirely. I also didn't remove the washer line from the headlamp assembly mount to replace the headlamp assembly. The version I received has Philips head screws instead of clips for the plastic housing for both the headlight the drl/brights (and the drl/brights has 4 - it's not a door-like housing) - so replacing a drl/bright lamp may be troublesome. I've always had trouble anyway - I cracked the wiring harness last time, leading to intermittent lights. So far I'm happy, time will tell if the $150 saved was worth it. Anyone else have experience replacing these assemblies? |
