I finally got these beautiful babies in!!!!!

Can anyone recommend the best coating options I can do for heat since I live in AZ.
Below are some things I researched.
I was more so looking to spray it myself (DIY) unless the professional coating pricing was reasonable.

Ceramic from what I researched was the best but feedback from experts would help.


A. Ceramic
B. Heat paint
C. Ceramic and wrapped
D. Heat paint and wrapped
F. Wrapped

I believe the only two "legit" ways to go about it are either A) Send it off to have them professionally ceramic coated (costs a couple hundred $$) or B) Buy some heat wrap and either wrap them yourself or pay a shop to do it (cheaper but also not quite as effective? - also might not last as long).

I'm a n00b regarding this subject as well though so I'll let the other more experienced dudes chime in.

Do it once, do it right: ceramic coating.

I'm not going to bother with my headers as I don't really see much of a need. Sure it'll be nice to have them cool down better than stock, but even without any coating you won't be seeing any detriment vs. your stock un-ceramic-coated headers either.

If you've already spent $1000+ on the headers, and are going through the PITA of installing them (or high cost if not DIY), I personally feel it's worth the extra $200-300 (if that's the cost) for a good ceramic coating. Probably about the same $$/HP as many other mods commonly done around here.

So what's he best way to remove the carbon deposits to coat mine were I to take it upon myself to punish myself by removing the headers I've had installed for 1 year now?

I run mine naked too.

I had mine on for over 2 years when I had to remove them to pass emissions. Even after 2 years there was very minimal build up.

But since they are just metal with no sensitive parts, you can just follow same procedures as 335 guys when cleaning their carbon build up. I guess the best (easiest) option would be just to soak them.

It is usually not recommended to coat and wrap.

He woulda just gotten the AA/SS headers

Just ceramic coat them yourself. It's super easy, I did my Active headers.

Grab a can or 2 of ceramic header paint from the store, along with brake cleaner, all purpose cleaner and either some sandpaper or a scotchbrite pad. Clean the headers up, prep/sand them, make sure nothing is on the surface and spray away. Then once you got 100% coverage, use a heat gun and just stick it into the single pipe side so the paint can cure (read the paints instructions to see what it wants)

Ceramic is the best. Multiple opinions on wrapping, some people say it is good others say it is bad
