The thing I don't like about Blacklines

Hey guys,
Just got in some blacklines this past weekend and after installing them I must say I wasn't that impressed. I think that the red taillights, especially the turning signal which is red makes the e90 look so hot. With the blackline taillights, you get a mixture of white and red and the turnings signal is orange which ruins it a bit for me. Just thought I'd raise a different perspective on the blacklines.

Why don't you change out the bulbs for RED in your black lines, then it will be the white and red - and they will flash red?

Thats a valid suggestion Broken1 but there's something about the stock taillights at night that I really like, especially on a Jet Black car - there's a very nice contrast when its just standing. I'd be interested in selling the blacklines to someone but my friend was helping me take them out and he dropped it.

I, unlike many who posted here, really like the rear of my car as much as the front. While I think that the black lines look good, I do not think their look makes the e90 look better than it does.

I've never understood it. If the car came stock with Blacklines, we'd all be clamouring for the tail lights we have now.

My opinion of course

some probably would, but i wouldn't.

i don't think the stock tails are bad. they'd be a lot better if they were the euro version, where the signal lights up amber rather than red. i don't like red turn signals.

I think the tail lights really bring out that"sharp" appeal to the E90. With the heavy use of red, and that contrast of white next to it, it makes them stand out very well, and make the E90 easily distinguished from other cars.

i like my stck lights as well. I also have a hard time spending $300 for diff't lights. Although, I must admit the "white line" light some have photoshopped are very good looking.

Haha... you're probably correct. You always want what you don't have. But in this case, I'm suggesting that we should want what we have

I don't get the fascination with the blacklines. No offense to anyone, but I think they look dirty. I like the red + white taillights.

i guess people always want something different, something they don't have presently. for me, i always felt stock lamps looked rather odd during the launch and nearly did not buy the e90 because the rear did not quite inspire me. Personally, the blacklines have made a visual difference. guess we should all stick to what we like best and not follow the crowd blindly.

My problem with the stock lights is the white plastic border of the reverse lights.

I don't get why BMW didn't just make it silver or chrome. The white border looks like some cheap plastic piece you'd stick on there for protection during shipping.

I have ordered the blacklines and am considering changing only the trunk lid mounted lights just to tone down the white plastic look.

I think BLs look slightly better than stock, but they still don't make the rear of the e90 - it's worst feature, IMO - look anything special. Why, oh why didn't BMW give us the same style LED lights that they made for the e46 coupé?

Totally agree with this comment. That's one of things I noticed and did not like when I saw the E90 for the first time in person.

We all have European stock lights here. We see no organe.
I was thinking to have blacklines but why you said there is a organe light? Does it mean even Blacklines has American and European versions?

Am I the only one here who thinks the Blacklines make the tail lights look a little like the old Civic's?

Well, I like the stock lights because they define the BMW 3 series L-shape lights.

Pics? We get different Civics here (in fact most Japanese cars sold in Europe look completely different to their US namesakes), so it's less of a problem.

you guys do know that the stock taillight with winner white reverse light creates similar "L" taillight effect like the E46s right? Why ruin it.

I'll ruin it however, once whitelines come out.

EXACTLY! When I brought my car home about 4 months ago, and pulled her into the garage and started to walk in the house, I of course turned around to admire her again...I saw the white strips on the reverse lights. I immediately thought: "stupid detalier at the dealership forgot to remove white, plastic protective shipping strips". IMO the stock lights are a very, very poor design, that look cheap and boring. With the blacklines, I feel like my E90 looks wider and much more aggressive. I could not drive an E90 with the stock rear lamps. Also, who can honestly like the red blinkers? Only Buick Park Avenues and Mercury Marquis have red signals. Red blinkers=cheap, ugly American cars. It is illegal in Europe with red signals, blinkers must be amber (and for a good reason, especially in bright sun).
