EVL blocked. Move steering wheel. ???

Hey everybody...it's been a long time since I've been here.

I've had a recurring problem with my 06 325i lately. I keep getting this error message on iDrive when I put the key in the slot: "EVL blocked. Move steering wheel."

The car won't start and there's a strange logo that appears, looks like a padlock over the steering wheel logo.

Funny thing is, I can turn the steering wheel when the car isn't started...the acutal wheel lock doesn't come on.

Any idea what the heck this is? At first I though it was just some kind of fluke, but it's been happening over and over again.

And a google search on the message comes up with nothing. I've read the book...still nothing.

I'm going to call service on Monday, but it's Saturday and I've got places to go. I don't want to be stranded because my car won't start.

Any help is much appreciated!

It has happened to me yesterday first time. Do you mean fiddle the wheel? I ended up getting out closing/unlocking and it worked. I have keyless btw.

Definitely get it checked out pronto. You should've noted the warning signs by now, it will get worst. I procrastinated getting my car in to my SA and the car left me stranded with the ELV lock problem.

What warning signs? It never had any problems. This was out of the blue.
