Total MSRP as Built $52,400
My 2008 335i Coupe
out the door: $48,000
with $10,000 down.

day 1 i went in, test drove a few cars, Manual, Steptronic, different models the whole deal then told my CA im ready to make my car it was $51,100 i let him do a credit check and also told him that I'm going to put $10,000 down he gave me a print out of the car. i told my CA that im going to give it some thought.

day 2 i went in, my CA told me i was approved for 3.9%, i asked him how much he can bring the car down, he went to talk to his supervisor came back with $49,500, told em i want it for $48,000 even, at first he said he couldn't bring it down any more. We talked for a little, i got him know him a bit more then he said he'll go check with his supervisor again to see if they can bring the price down any further. he said the best he can do was $48,500. i still wasn't satisfy... after 2 long hours... i left and told him i'm going to check other places and for him to give me a call if he is willing to do it for $48.

was this e90 or e92. E92 is very hard to knock the price down for that much. If it is e90 u can knock it off for 4K off. i did on my e90. I bought my e90 for 37K out the door.

by the way, how much is ur monthly payment? for how many years

I ordered my xi on May 15. I'm pretty sure the STEP was being offered for no cost at that time. The first CA at Passport BMW purposely never mentioned that to me, so when I discovered that lil' golden nugget of info I started dealing with another CA.

Anyway, I never negotiate from MSRP, only invoice price. Because of the new BMW price increase, I was able to get the GM at the dealership I will purchase my car from to guarantee in writing that neither my selling price nor total out-the-door cost will change. Once my xi arrives, I'll be picking it up for $869 below invoice. Took a helluva lot of negotiating for me to work that deal. In the end, I had four Maryland dealerships going lower and lower to beat the others' prices. The deal I finally accepted was "only good until 7 PM today." LOL! I will be very satisfied as long as they don't try to pull an 'okie doke' move on me at time of delivery.

Peace!

sounds like he is financing the car, not leasing. his full tax would come out of the 10K he is putting down and his payment would not change

Financing 38k (48k - 10k down payment) for 60 months at 3.9% should only be $698.11/month. Financing 42.5k puts you right at $780/mo. I understand you have to pay delivery fees ($200?) but that puts you at about 9% sales tax on the full price of the car? Is it really that bad out there?!?!

how do you figure?....
($38,000)(0.0039) = $148.2 of interest per month
($148.2)(60 month) = $8892
$38,000 + $8892 = $46892
($780)(60) = $46892

Your calculations are missing some things. First, you're not paying 3.9%/month. It's an APR. So you're paying 1/12th of the 3.9%/month which adds up to a full 3.9%/year. They just calculate it and make you pay a bit each month. Also, you're not paying interest on the full 38k the whole time. You only pay interest on the remaining amount you owe. The formula is:

[P*(r/12)]/[1-(1+r/12)^-m]
where
p = Principal
r = rate
m = months the loan is taken over
[38,000*.039/12]/[1-(1+.0039/12)^-60]
123.5/1-1.00325^-60
123.5/(1-.8231)
~698 or ~$18.38/$1k financed at 60 months.

Google 'car payment calculator' there are a lot of places around that will tell you what you have to pay and even give you amortization tables. You might want to check that out before you go in and take a good calculator with you when you go to sign.

ahh i appreciate the input.... i think we are financing $42,320
cause with Tax, Title, Registration & Other Costs
$48,000 + $3,600tax + $720 title, registration & other = $52,320
$52,320 - $10,000 down = ($42,320 financing)

$780 monthly payments sounds about right for financing $42,320 right?
i went to Edmund.com

haha, good looking out man... i appreciate it lots...
the wait sucks cause i was told by my CA that it was only going to be only 4weeks ( i didn't know any better then ) then when that 4 week came by ( it came around hella fast ) he said another 4-5 weeks at least and suddenly it seems like time just stopped moving... and still another 4 more weeks left til it arrives luckily my car caught one of the last ship that set sail other wise it would have still been waiting for a vessel

Trust me, I know how you're feeling. I waited through the build process no problem. Someone on the same boat as me got their 135 delivered on May 24th. A week later they realized my car got damaged in transit and they had to fix it. There was a ding on the beltline that goes across the door, so they had to order another door from Germany. 2.5 weeks later it got release to the carrier. ETA to the dealer was last Sunday. Still isn't there....

The waiting is killing me. At least I have a dealer loaner, 328xi. No '35, but it works!

steptronic takes off just as fast as manual, higher resell value, i live in cali ( traffic can get rough sometimes ), my mom will be driving it occasionally to banquets and other formal places, and although i know i should never do it but i sometimes just have to.... drive while buzzed from drinking and i figure if i did it with a manual i'll probably crash cause my attention will be on shifting gears or something.

haha I wouldnt be surpised if they do after you did that to them, remeber you get what you pay for most ppl dont realize that there are alot of little extras you get when you let the dealer make a small fair profit!! I was treated like gold when I bought my cars because I knowingly let the dealer make a small profit of 2k on a 60k car! but let me tell you I watch ppl who grind dealers get different treatment because they never forget how you made things difficult! I was hooked up with hats pens even a new putter from the parts counter my C.A thanked me for being polite and easy to deal with and I promised a 100 on survey! in my opinion if you cant afford the car dont buy it buy within your means! I dont know about you but I want my car delivered in a decent manner and not rushed! and I deff dont want the C.A to see me and say oh here is that cheap Bastard those guys work 60 plus hours a week just like you and I!! buying a car is about being diplomatic and fair for both parties money is only paper you are not just buying a car you are buying a lifestyle and making future contacts who can make your car OWNING experience either good or bad! So next time you are Grinding to get that 50k car into you 45k budget remember ppl dont forget!

To each his own, but I will always do my best to save as much as possible with every vehicle purchase. It's not even a question of affordability with me, it's strictly GP. I'd rather use the extra $250, $500, $2,000, or whatever money I can save on my family than give even more money to a car dealership. They can kept their hats, pens, & golf clubs for all I care. I just spent tens of thousands of dollars purchasing a product from them when I could have spent that money with one of their competitors. I don't need to know a dealership's true profit numbers when all transactions/rebates/kickbacks/etc. are said and done, but I do know that they will NEVER sell me if they are not profiting.

Peace!

I think your sales tax may be slightly off, but I may be mistaken.
I hope this helps you visualize the loan a bit.

I don't need to know a dealership's true profit numbers when all transactions/rebates/kickbacks/etc. are said and done, but I do know that they will NEVER sell me if they are not profiting.

Peace!
rebates-kickbacks?
you did buy a BMW right because those things dont exist with BMW they dont believe in doing that it drops the value I am just simply saying you get what you pay for! some night when you need a huge favor or are stranded lets see how quick the S.A or C.A is to pick you up in his personal vehicle and im sure you are the type to say oh it will never happen.......how did you rate them on the survey??
