2011 BMW 335i XDrive Cat Back

How many cats does this model have? Are there any non OEM cats that are sold for this car? We are trying to get our car to pass emissions and want to make sure we do it correctly. Is there a website where you can look up cat part numbers to car models? Lastly, is it illegal in all US states to have a used cat installed on a car? Thx in advance.

Sorry let me rephrase. I meant who cares if it's illegal to use a used cat, as long as it passes emissions.

what exactly do you want to do with your exhaust? emissions is different everywhere in the US. you might want to find out how strict it is in NJ, because Texas or Florida for example doesnt even have emission testing, while in California it's super strict.

so your car consists of two downpipes (both with cats in it), then leads to two secondary cats, a resonator, and then your muffler.

if you are concerned about emissions but want the best performance possible, get a catted downpipe and delete your secondary cats. you can go fully catless and keep your secondaries in place which will work decently, but that likely will not pass emissions.

lastly, you can just PE mod your muffler. all together this will sound good.
