Hey guys first post here. not new to cars but mew to BMW. car has 92k on the clock. recently replaced belt pullies tensioner and oil filter housing gasket. today with no warning car completely lost power steering. has a slight vibration in the steering wheel at idle but no noise. pop the hood reveals fluid pooled along the underside of the radiator but the belt is still there and I see no signs of a seized pulley.. a bit of dirt crusted along the side of the reservoir as well. i plan on adding fluid tomorrow and trying to trace the leak. it must be pretty large to fail that fast with no warning. how common is it for the pump to fail entirely on this chassis? I don't want to waste my time tracking lost fluid if pump failure is common. if it is i will simply replace the pump lines and re-ring the reservoir cap.
