2009 Corvette ZR1: $103,300

Official numbers are out. The new Corvette ZR1 produces 638 HP, 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, 1/4 mile in 11.3 seconds at 131 MPH, and tops out at 205 MPH. It returns a decent( though missed the target of best in class) fuel economy of 14/20. You can get this bare bone beast all for a very cheap $103,300. Then add gas guzzling tax, chrome wheels, and the only package available costing $10,000 the ZR1 will top out at $117,000.

Depends on the cars you like. I'm sure the corvette guys would disagree with you. That being said, for $100k couldn't they do more with the interior other than putting "corvette" everywhere? Typical american manufacturers. Of course the exterior and engine are out of this world.

I doubt people would use it for their daily driver anyways. The mpg is fine for a weekend car. Hell people are buying C63's and its far worse.

Perfect example of an image snob right there. The interior might not be the best, but it isn't horrible. It's all personal taste, but to discriminate an awesome performing vehicle because of the name and the stereotypes it brings with it is stupid. Should I not buy a BMW because of the image of the drivers being arrogant, assholes, and feel they are superior then everyone else? Or should I buy it because it is a great performing vehicle?

Well in his defense, most american made cars are crap. Of course, then you have the high performance cars like Z06's, Vipers, Ford GT's which aren't.

For $100k, I'd like a better interior than that. In the end, I doubt I'd care when I hear the 650hp engine.

American cars are getting better( Malibu, CTS). But, his post was perfectly aimed at the Corvette itself and not any other models from American manufactures.

Well people also say they wouldn't pay $75k for a Nissan. So what? Everyone has their opinion on everything from cars to women to movie to underwear. I personally wish it wasn't in the 6 figure level, but for what you get, its worth the price.

That steering wheel was in the Corvette first. My Aura has that wheel, Malibu has it, Cobalt, HHR, etc. A downside of the corporate parts bin. Though I wouldn't mind GM tapping it for an Aura Redline and using that LS9 though.......

And Army, I know that it is the sad truth. Americans are too caught up in "luxury" marquees so when a perceived mainstream brand has something expensive, people will say, " Ewww. $100K for a Chevy?" It isn't like this in the rest of the world. The Acura TSX is the Honda Accord in Europe. Lexus's here are Toyota's in Japan, etc.

True but when you make statements like:

That's more than just an opinion. It just not true. Here is an example of how American car companies are even exceeding the top Japanese companies like Toyota:
