The Ultimate Auto-x/Track Wheels for the 3 Series - Better than SSR Competitions!!!

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds

Item Interest
Hi Everybody,

I have a set of four new Ray's Engineering Volk Racing RE30 Wheels for sale. I originally purchased these wheels for use on my 2008 535i as a dedicated Auto-x wheel set, but after waiting 6 months for these special order wheels, I found out that even with the required 20mm spacers, the wheels won't clear my calipers (although the dealer said that they would). Unfortunately, the dealer that sold them to me won't take them back so I have to sell them at a loss.

These wheels are supposed to be compatible with all BMW 3ers except the the E90 330i and 335i. This includes the BMW E46 3 series and all BMW E90 3 series vehicles (except the 330i and 335i). At least this is what the Volk Racing website states. See here for the link:

http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/...modelName=RE30

In any case, here are some more details regarding these wheels:

Size: 17 x 8.5
Offset: +35mm
P.C.D.: 5 x 120 - 75
Color: Diamond Black (this is a special order color and costs more)
Weight of each wheel: 14lbs!!!! You'll save huge amounts of unsprung weight which will tremendously improve your handling, braking and acceleration.

The wheels already have the 75-72.56mm metal ring adapter installed and come with a set of lugnuts. These wheels are absolutely brand new. No tires have ever been mounted on them, although 1 wheel has been test fitted to see if it will clear the 535i brake calipers. These wheels cost me more than $2,600. I am willing to sacrifice these at $2,300 SHIPPED within the CONUS. USPS Postal Money Orders and paypal accepted (without any additional fees). If you've been seriously thinking about getting a set of SERIOUS Auto-X/Track wheels for your 3er, you won't find a better set available, nor at a better price. Check around, if you can find these same wheels at a better price, let me know. Please PM me if you are interested or have additional questions. I'm new here on E90 Post, but have lots of transactions on eBay. My eBay user id is edwardshen. Thanks.

If they were 18 inch or larger, they'd fit on my car and I wouldn't be posting them here.... Auto-x/track guys know that the ideal set up is to reduce the wheel diameter to minimize weight, but try to get a wide wheel to maximize tire width. You will be saving AT LEAST 10lbs per corner by running these wheels....that's HUGE!!! With a good set of Kumho race tires, you'll save even more weight compared your stock set-up...

with them not fitting 330s or 335s, I imagine the potential buying population here is cut in half. Oh, and if 20 lb wheels like Morr's save 10 lbs per corner. I'd bet with tires mounted, this Volk set will save 15 lbs per corner.

satakal,

Yeah, I know. I lose a bunch of potential buyers because these don't fit the E90 330 or 335s. My bad. BTW, I read somewhere on the web that shaving off 1lb of weight on a corner (known as unsprung weight) is like losing 7-10X as much on the body weight. So if we're shaving 15 lbs per corner, that's 60 lbs total of unsprung weight savings...that's more like 420-600lbs of weight shaved off the curb weight....huge benefits for handling, acceleration, braking, etc. That was the reason why I got these in the first place.....

Just curious as to why these won't fit 335's. I have 17" wheels as my snows...

That's what the wheel fitment guide on the Volk Racing website says. My guess is that the inner diameter of each wheel is a bit difference and may not allow for clearance of the caliper/rotor combo depending upon wheel design. Not all wheels have the same measurements....

These WILL FIT the 328 E90/E92. From the wheel fitment guide, it seems to me that E46 3-series will also work. So all you guys with ZHP E46s, these would be ideal for Auto-x.

The spokes don't look like they'd interfere too much with the caliper. You should find a local 335 and test fit it.

I'd love these for the track...

Bump for you.

You're right, i probably should....but I think it's more of a clearance of the caliper on the side (inner diameter of the wheel not being big enough)....

Oh man, this would be so sweet for a track setup for the 335 if it could fit. So light and tires for 17" are so much cheaper.

I thought +35mm was the offset of the 330's, so why should it not fit?

he means the clearance from the inside barrel of the rim to the outside/corners of the caliper.
