Added bluetooth for my 2007 E92
Ok so I did this mod so that I could listen to music and hear navigation on my cars audio system. My car did not come with the Idrive info system, and searching through the threads on this website it seems that my car is too old for any software update to allow me to play music on my phone through the bluetooth bit on my cars radio. "correct me if I am wrong"?
I had been using the aux audio jack the car came with, but when I upgraded to the iphone 8 it no longer had the audio jack output on it and I was kinda getting tired of having to plug it in every time I wanted to listen to music anyway. I went ahead and bought a cheap little Bluetooth circuit board off ebay for like $5 and went ahead and installed it in my car. I have attached pictures of the install below.. Surely this is better than my last mod "cupholder mod to hold iphone" that I got bashed for being crap! here is the ebay bluetooth unit here is the unit wired up to the switches for volume and "next/previous song" Routing the wiring all buttoned up and ready to go The volume, next song buttons Edited to see if I can get pictures to show for everyone.. After having used this for a day now I have come to realize that since I didn't hook up a "mic" on the leads provided I can't talk on the phone if someone calls, I will be buying a mic and adding it to the project when I get it.. Trouble is the aux sounds crappy .
That unit is now twice as cheap or more than its nearest rivals. If you have time see if you can fabricate something that goes through the most bus. |

you can retrofit aftermarket module to enable bluetooth streaming without idrive
or you can use genuine usb/audio module and tune2air bluetooth/usb converter
