Earthquake SWS Install and Amp Q

I want to first appologize for most of my questions because when it comes to this stuff I have no knowledge of it at all, and so a complete Noob. Now with that out of the way...

I plan on doing the SWS-8 upgrade in my 07 E90 with HiFi or the regular stereo system. With that said, what would you consider to be the minimum requirements for an amp to push those subs? In other words, what kind of channels or mono or whatever do I need to be looking for in an amp?

Other than the subs, amp, and some dynamat, What else do I need for an install like this? I assume some kind of wires or kit, but what kind? Is there a certain gauge wire I need? Length? Any idea where to find this stuff?

Yes I am sure it would be easier to just take it somewhere but I like to do these things myself and thought it would be nice to learn about this audio stuff while I am at it.

Thanks again for your help guys!!

This is a good thread to look at.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134066

There are a ton of threads on it. But, looking at your list of bad a$$ mods, are you sure you really want to just add some bass? If you roughly double the money you can have a kick butt system. Those mids and highs could sound so much better with just a little money and you can have your bass hitting hard enough to give you a butt massage.

Just in case you want a system (and this I think would be considered 'mid grade' in the grand scheme of things):

PDX-5 (loving this amp) - $400
Two SWS-8's $300
Morel Dotech Ovations for the front (great speakers IMO). $375

If you want to be able to tune these you can get a Audiocontrol DQXS or DQL-8 (about $400 off ebay).

So for about a grand (a little more with the RCA's and wiring kit) you could have a system that make you smile everytime you turn up the volume.

Just my two cents, considering you obviously love your car...

here's some good info between the HiFi and the L7:

If you just wanna increase the bass there are maybe 4 ways of doing this:

1. Replacing the stock subs with SWS'8s and adding an amp
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134066

2. Adding an additional amp to power the stock subs
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=alpine+amp

3. Adding a sub and amp in the trunk
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=amp

4. JL Audio stealthbox system
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=stealth

Trying reading all the other threads in the Audio/Video too. Very informative

Thanks LaYzEe. I have looked through all of them and I guess I just am still unsure of which amp to get, like what requirements I need to get to power those subs. I asked some others in your other thread

You should definitely check out Bassforms for sub enclosures. They are 100% fiberglass and make the bass ridiculously crisp and clear. Heres their site

Looks good and finally something that the others are looking for, but I'm not looking for an extra sub in the back
