User MpowerLex tried to scam me

Just wanted to give a heads up to others about a member named Alex Gomez, or MpowerLex. He tried to scam me for some parts this past couple weeks. Took forever to send tracking info, then when he did it was for a company that was out of business. Got my money back from PayPal, but had a package of trash show up today, yes actual trash. I would assume he did so to try and trick PayPal with a new tracking number? Anyway, avoid him!

lets say this trash was delivered with proper tracking. would paypal have taken ur side then. such grey area. glad you got out unscathed

I believe it does. All PayPal wants to know if the shipment was made and received. If it was the wrong item or broken etc. is typically not of their concern per say. At least that was my history with an unscrupulous seller.

The seller could claim it was shipped and trash swapped out.

Maybe there was a ship from address you can send some “persuaders” to lol

in the event you receive trash, and it shows delivered to confirmed address, you need to then file a police report. Once thats done they will refund you

There isn’t an “Unappreciate” button on posts to negatively impact a person’s reputation, no. But you can help by reporting forum rules violations, which includes someone just being disrespectful or hostile by the way, and moderators will then take action as appropriate.

Generally, yes.

Best practice is always to use a credit card for PayPal purchases as you can always file a chargeback as an extra layer of protection.

In this case, filing a chargeback would put the burden of proof on the seller to prove they didn't ship a box of garbage. You'd also have your money back within a day.

I recently had a terrible experience with PayPal. The Indian support has no decision making authority and they just follow the procedures without thinking.

Once he provides an updated/new tracking I would not be surprised if they charge him again.
