Someone hit my car in a parking lot today and messed up the rear bumper pretty bad. I would say it needs to be completely replaced but i'm no expert.
I got their insurance information so it should be no problem getting it fixed. If i do need it replaced where should I go??? I'm hoping for somewhere in Orange County. Crevier or Sterling. . . I've heard some good things about Spectrum too. I was thinking maybe get it replaced with an different bumper. . . Think this would be possible? Maybe this??? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...0+front+bumper Last edited by PaulBailey@ltbmw; 06-20-2008 at 05:33 PM.. |

You will have to take out the skin and inspect the damage underneath. If the parts inside are fine you probably just need a new skin. Anyhow, sorry to hear about the incident and hope you get it fixed soon.

They won't cover it. Technically when they cut you a check you can buy whatever you want but if you asked them about a different bumper, they will tell you that they only cover OEM parts (unless of course you had a difference bumper on your car).

Yeah I figured that much . . . But i was hoping they would send out an insurance adjuster to take a look and estimate the cost of repair and then give me my choice (Along with their preference) of shops to get the new bumper and then cut me a check or something.
Then I can take it to somewhere local that is willing to order a Mtech or something similar and just charge that to the insurance as OEM. |

I know a guy that can fix it pretty cheap and does good work. I had him fix something for me before.
PM if you're interested and I can give you the info.

Just have them cut you a check.
Then PM longtran and ask him about getting the Mtech front bumper painted for you.

Damn, they don't want to cut me a check.
They gave me a few choices of shops to go to but none that i've ever heard of. . . I'm thinking i'll just try spectrum or sterling unless anyone knows of any better bodyshops in the Orange county area. . . ![]() But any idea how much more a shop would charge me for the M-tech? Its considered OEM right? How much less is the original bumper? Last edited by PaulBailey@ltbmw; 06-25-2008 at 05:32 PM.. |

i thought you could take ur car to the body shop of your choice. they can only "recommend" shops or refer you to "authorized" shops. but ultimately the choice is yours. thats how my insurance (AAA) is at least.

M-tech is definitely considered OEM, I was pretty much in the same predicament as you but I was able to talk to my body shop into ordering the M-tech for me. Dang how many e90's do you have paul?!

Update:
Went with Sterling Collision Center in Tustin. Very nice shop and staff. . . Had nothing but beatiful High-end cars. . . 5 Bentleys, 6 Lambos, 8 Porsches, Countless BMWs and Audi's. . . The Service writer gave me a full tour of the shop and all the projects they were working on. Needs a new bumper. . .estimated at $1,125. |
