Wastegate Rattle Troubleshooting?

Ok .. so when I let 'off' my gas after a rev I hear a loud rattle.

I just went under my hood, disconnected my vaccum canister 1, reved it, heard a very light barely noticable rattle. I then connected canister 1, and disconnected canister 2, reved, very barely noticable rattle. Disconnected both canisters, reved, barely any noise just like before.

THEN I connect both cannisters back, rev, and LOUD rattle.

What is that? Because it seems like it wouldn't be the wastegate since I kind of tested both the front and rear turbo wastegate when I disconnected the cannisters. Unless having one disconnected effects the other in some way.

However when looking at the rear turbo there was no effect when I disconnected the front turbo to the cannister.

Edit: Unless having one wastegate totally open, allows for less pressure to come out of the other one.

Do you hear the rattle at lower rpms right before the car comes to a stop? I had a similar problem that I thought was wastegate rattle but disconnecting canisters made no difference.

I replaced turbos and pcv valve a couple weeks ago and rattle is gone. Beforehand, I thought it could have been maybe an exhaust leak or my flywheel going out. Try uploading a video of the rattle and maybe someone will be able to pinpoint the problem better.

That sounds like Wastegate.
For the rear one (where you pointed the camera to) you can try to reach down and see if it wiggles on the axis where it goes into the turbo. (I mean not the actuator rod but the arm itself it is connected to).

Beware it is hot down there - try only with fully cooled down car !!

Yep I did it when cold .. I also did it when running and got sinched!

But the actuator arms seems to be pretty strong, not too much play really.

I am just very unsure if it is supposed to open upon letting off of the gas. I assumed it would but maybe not?
