steering wheel and shifter normal dirt build up..

ok aside from wearing gloves, it is hard not to get some kind of build up on leather steering wheels or leather shift knobs. i try my best to keep them clean, but its not easy to remove buildup between the tiny perforations in the leather.

what do you recommend? i don't want to scrub to hard, especially with a brush or something, as i may damage the leather itself.

any tips would be greatly appreciated!

A soft leather brush is strong enough to clean between the grains but still gentle. The oils released by your palms causes this build up. Once a month application of an AIO Leather product via leather brush, should be sufficient in maintaining the leather. Weekly wipe downs, with a damp cloth are a must IMO.

looks good, but that seat looks soft like the brush. i need to brush out some hand cheese (oils) embedded in my steering wheel and shifter.

Often times rubbing down leather too hard may seem like its yeilding good results, but you are also damaging it and abrading it. Gentle is key. Also, don't be afraid of using a damp MF or super soft terry on your leather, it will not damage it. The little bit of water will not harm your leather.

I personally prefer to use a super soft white terry on the leather of my car's. MF is a must for everything else.

nothing has escaped Meguiar APC interior wise. I'm sure there are other alternatives other mebers can recommend. The idea is to soften and emulsify the dirt and grime and gently seperate it from the granw ith a brush.I still think the horse hair brush is gentle enoigh but still efective in aggitating the dirt inbetween the grime. Go to a drug store and buy a baby brush. They're smaller than the horse hair upholstery brush I recommended but still gentle.

thanks for the advice, i just purchased Meguiars APC and the hard brush i originally listed. i will brush the wheel sofly and hopefully the diluted M APC will break down the hand cheese in the wheel.

i will follow up with pics after i receive this products in the mail!

Which Megs APC? APC+ or APC (green gallon)? I like APC since it foams nice and clings to dirt better.
