WTB: N54 long motor with low kms (Melbourne)
Spun a rod bearing tonight..
Does anyone where I could source a decent complete long motor for a good price (ideally in Melbourne) ?? Cheers, Jimmy |

haha, yeah learning fast..
like iliketurtl3s is concludes I picked up the car pretty cheap from an auction, questionable maintenance history, high kms, running rough but a decent body and interior.. Fitted new injectors, water pump, coil packs, various gaskets and stage2 LPFP and all was good.. then the bug bit me so I fitted GC turbos, Helix IC and with a custom MHD tune made 300kW atw.. After a week of driving I started to hear a slight tappity noise at certain rpm off load - wasnt too bad and being a pretty noisy engine anyway I stupidly just tried to ignore it until the noise started to get much worse last night so I pulled up dropped to idle and lost oil pressure.. |

Contact Jin @ Eastern BM he would be able to help you assemble/source the parts

The GC's seem great - low down response is still really good and they pull way harder thru the midrange and top... fitted the VTT silicon inlets and outlets..

Who tuned it? There's a few superknock codes in there which should never happen on a custom tune. This signifies a very big knock event and may be related to your ruined engine

Looks like a lot of fuel pressure codes, I wonder if the car ran lean and ruined the engine? Did you have any tuning logs from before the car blew up? Definitely worth tracing the cause before installing the new engine and turning up the boost again, especially if you have to transfer parts from your old engine to the new.

hope it's going well mate. We're starting to gather a graveyard of n54s and are toying with the idea of offering built long engines, ready to go. so we can weigh up pricing, was wondering what are some of the options people would like to see made available if they were in the same unfortunate position as Jim? |
