Best tire choice for under $1,000

Hey guys, just wanted to get some opinions on tire choices. I'm looking for 235/35/19 fronts and 265/30/19 rears. I would like good dry grip and decent wet grip with a decent tread life.....at least 25,000 miles, with some spirited drving every once in awhile would be nice.

Any suggestions?

Search forums. I always hear about Falken 452's and General Exclaims. Good luck.

I've read alot of stuff on those tires, I was just wondering if there were any other options out there that people have used and can comment on.

There are a ton of options available to you for well under $1000. If you are looking for a cheaper set, I'd go with the General Exclaim UHP or Kumho Ecsta SPT. For a mid range tire, you can do the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 or Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. In the upper range, I'd recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s although these will creep on the $1k budget.

Thanks Nick, I was looking to avoid the Exclaim and Ecsta. I'll look into the Eagle's and Potenza's.

Wasn't there a thread awhile back from tirerack that compared alot of the performance tires they carry??? I can't find it if it is out there.

I would check on Tire Rack's site as they do performance reviews from time to time of similar tires. I know they did a comparison test with the Goodyears but I am not sure what other tires they used. In fact, I think it was done on an E90.

I would definitely check out Toyo Proxes T1R's. I have these tires on my 19's and I love them. I got them for $7xx shipped from treaddepot.com (they have free shipping on all in stock tires), so thats well under your 1g budget. Here's a link:

Went with the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2......I got anxious to slap some tires on this thing and these were the only performance tires in town that I could get my hands on. I wanted the Eagle F1's but didn't want to wait. So far I'm loving these tires. This thing corners so much better now. I wish I knew how much of that was bc of the tires and how much was just from moving up to 19's

EDIT: Oh, and I got them for $1,012 installed with full warranty so I hit my budget more or less........I guess more, haha

I would believe that the Generals would have the longest treadlife base on treadwear ratings. I'm happy with mine.

I was more for performance with a decent treadlife so I think I made the right choice for my needs.

Those BFGoodrich tires are a good choice. I've heard great things about their dry grip capabilities

Yokohama S. Drives are affordable and great and the General Exclaims UHP - would be my two top choices - in terms of street I'd go General's
