BMS Filters = S&B Filters (thats who makes them)
So i wanted to replace my BMS intake filters for my N54 without having to pay
70 dollars for red and i think ts 84 for blue plus shipping. After doing research I found out that S&B filters makes them for burgertuning. I didnt see anything posted on the forums on this so decided to share this with you guys. They are same exact ones minus the logo and they sell for 31.58 a piece for red or blue. same price. The rep that works for them confirmed the exact dimensions too. the part number for red is R0633 and Blue is R0948. I went for the Blue and my ground Shipping was 8 bucks from CA to PA. You can also find them on amazon (NOT PRIME) for same price but the shipping is 11 bucks as i recall. Will update this when i get them but here are the links https://www.sbfilters.com/replacemen...-filters/r0948 https://www.sbfilters.com/replacemen...-filters/r0633 Enjoy |

Nice, wish I saw this a week ago before I replaced my current BMS filters. Still a good find.

While S&B manufacturers filters for BMS, their N54 DCI uses a proprietary design and part number. The filter dimensions are larger, there is an internal stop for the BMS intake adapter tube, the filter oiling specifications are different, and BMS branded filters are the only ones that are 50-state emissions legal in case you get pulled over and have to pop the hood.

As to poping the hood when you get pulled over in a modified looking car, it depends where you live. Doesn't cost much more to be legal though with the BMS DCI. Mike |

I just put new Blue BMS ones on my car a week ago but will be taking them off after our work car show in a couple weeks. If I remember I will try and get some of the same pics done.

Yes your photos confirm, those are not the latest (2014+) BMS DCI filters. The BMS filter is wider at the base and has the built in coupler stop. A lot of customers with the older BMS filters had issues with the couplers going in too far killing performance so be careful when installing and check from time to time especially if it suddenly feels slower.

"Featuring high quality S&B inverted cone filters the BMS Dual Cone Performance Intake offers the highest possible flow in an attractive and easy to install/remove package. Not to mention the intoxicating sound. This intake completely replaces your restrictive factory airboxassembly. Includes anodized black aluminum couplers and all required hardware. Does NOT require any cutting or drilling. Mounts to factory inlets. Filters available in red, white, and now blue. Made in the USA." The problem with the off the shelf filters was the velocity stack requires very careful inlet tube placement, customers would screw it up, not gain power, and complain. BMS resolved this with a proprietary filter that has a stop for the coupler, and at the same time made the filter larger so they'd fit better in the engine bay and have a longer service life. And got them 50-state emissions approved. Is all that worth $10 more than the generic filters? Not to everyone apparently. Different strokes for different folks. I'm just pointing out the differences as OP made it sound like BMS is still selling off the shelf filters like he got. Mike |

You are absolutely right . I didn't realize the price op quoted was for each filter. So he is saving a whopping $7
I have the bms filters and when time comes to replace, I will use bms Thanks for the info.

Its not the whole point of saving money, and it was 71 shipped to me vs 80 plus shipping from BMS, it was a point of making a new thread to let everyone know that there is an alternative (since i couldn't find any information like this on the forum) Just giving info to the community that taught me a lot about my car.
